2 Message from President CSAJ has done several activities yearly in Cambodia and Japan. In Cambodia, we focus on charity activities to help poor communities and on essay contests for high school and university students to share their ideas on some issues happening in Cambodia. In Japan, our activities aim to support students studying in Japan and to show Cambodian culture to foreign friends in community for strengthening mutual understanding and friendship. This newsletter is to summarize the activities that we have done in 2013 by CSAJ and some other activities done by regional association in Kanto, Nagoya, Kansai and Kyushu. On behalf of CSAJ committee, I would like to express my deepest thanks to all volunteers and sponsors who have helped us successfully accomplish those activities. Many Thanks to all donors and supporters in our charity activities. 5 3.CSAJ Network CSAJ consists of 4 member associations (CSAJ-Kanto, CSAN, KSAK, ACSK). We do our activities in regional basis and represent students in each region. However, there are some activities that are done in the name of Cambodian Student Association in Japan (CSAJ) such as charity activity and cultural shows in ASEAN festival and so on. 6 4.CSAJ Survey We have done a survey of 160 students in Japan, out of the predicted total number of 380 students. As the number of respondents is about 40% of total students, the result of this survey does not reflect 100% of the characteristics of students studying in Japan. Cambodian Students Association in Kanto Sharing Study and Work Experiences, (Tokyo, March 16 th, 2013) Seniors, Cambodian students who graduated from university and are now working in Japanese companies, shared experiences on university s entrance exam and job hunting to Cambodian juniors Khmer New Year party, (Tokyo, April 13 th, 2013) Cambodian students performed Trott dance to show to guests.. ASEAN Festival, (Tokyo, July 20 th, 2013) Cambodian students performed, Apsara Dance, Coconut Dance, fashion show and sell food to show our culture to guests. 10

Cambodian Students Association in Nagoya Khmer New Year organized by Cambodian Student Association in Nagoya (CSAN) Students in Nagoya participated in the 20 th Anniversary Party of KOTA International Association on January 27, In this event we, Cambodian students, performed popular dance. Cambodian students in Nagoya participated in the 7 th International Party of Kiyosu International Association which was held on February 23, We performed coconut dance in this event. 11

Association of Cambodian Students in Kyushu Students in Kyushu participated in Cambodia-Mines Remove Champaign on February 9, This event is aimed at raising fund to cut down mines or bombs in Cambodia. Students in Kyushu participated in HAKATA DONTAKU Festival on May 3, A parade with Khmer traditional song was performed. on Students in Kyushu participated in the traditional rice harvesting event at Futsuka-ichi, Fukuoka city on September 9, We have experienced the Japanese traditional techniques of rice harvesting in Japan. 13

18 9.1. Essay Contest in Phnom Penh Final presentation was done on August 11 th, 2013 at university of Puthisastra, Phnom Penh. We selected 10 top ten students among the participants in the contest. The topics and names of winners are listed below. Some pictures during the final presentation 17

19 9.2. Donation in Prey Veng province CSAJ coordinated to build 9 water wells in 9 primary schools in Prey Veng province. We also donated T-shirts, studying and teaching materials to students and teachers in Svay Primary School in Prey Veng. 18
