Update ABA s Women of the Section of Litigation (WOTSOL) 2015 Conference (Heather White, Evelyn Storch and Suzanne Jones) General details: WOTSOL will again in 2015 in Chicago at the Swissotel, November 11-13, Thank you to all of the sponsors for this conference Registration is LIVE Register through this link ( ). As a reminder, on Wednesday evening Baker McKenzie is hosting a networking reception, followed by our traditional Dutch treat dinner. Please make sure to sign up for both events when you register!

2 Our Dutch treat dinner on Wednesday night is being planned by Lisa Garrison, Gail Gottehrer, Jen demay, and Jenny Austin. Dinner will be at Tavern on the Park. There is seating for over 100 so we are expecting the biggest WAC dinner yet! Details on a reception coming soon. When you register for the conference, select the WAC dinner and reception and you will receive details on pre-paying, etc. Thanks to the team for coming up with a great plan! Our brochure will be coming soon, but you have two and half days of stellar programming to look forward to, including a special Rainmaking panel on Wednesday afternoon, a full day of trial skills for litigations new and old, and substantive programming on practice development, negotiation, and ethics on Friday. Come hear our fabulous keynote luncheon speaker, Maureen Mahoney, of Latham & Watkins, Washington D.C., - one of the top five women lawyers who have argued before the United States Supreme Court. She will address the audience on how to prepare for and argue before the high court and what it is like to do so. She will bring clips of her own arguments and discuss one of her landmark cases. Friday lunch will be substantive roundtables. Close with champagne reception on Friday evening. Special thanks to Evelyn Storch and Suzanne Jones who have done a terrific job on programming. 3. Report on ABA Annual Meeting 2015 July 30 - August 4, 2015, Chicago, Illinois (Robin Perkins) WAC hosted our Dutch Treat dinner at the Annual Meeting in Chicago, on Thursday July 30, 2015, at 8 pm, immediately following the Section of Litigation Reception. Dinner was held in a semi-private lounge at the Tortoise Club, 350 North State Street, a short walk from the Fairmont where the Litigation Section events were held. There was a WAC committee meeting on Friday, July 31, Special thanks to Robin Perkins who not only planned the dinner but ran the meeting in Chicago. Great job! 2

Round Tables: Robin Luce Hermann (luce-errmann@butzel.com) The Grit Project: True Grit and a Growth Mindset, September 22, 2015 The Grit Project educates women lawyers about the science behind grit and growth mindset two important traits that many successful women lawyers have in common. By providing the tools to assess and learn these traits, the Grit Project enhances the effectiveness as well as the retention and promotion of women lawyers. The Grit Project is designed to be a discussion-based program where individuals learn about grit and growth mindset and then apply the frameworks to a problem. During the program on September 22nd, Milana Hogan will provide an overview of the Grit & Growth Mindset research. Milana is Director of Recruiting and Professional Development, Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, New York, New York and serves as Co-Chair of the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession s GRIT Project. Local hosts will then review videos and then lead a discussion on how grit and mindset can be applied to the scenarios. During the September 22 nd program, attendees will review and discuss 2 scenarios: Struggling with Your Workload, and Bullying in a Deposition. Hosts will be provided materials in advance, and a brief training session for hosts will be conducted on Tuesday, September 15 at 2:00 EDT. 3
