2 ACEL State and Territory 2017 Branch Executive Elections ABOUT ACEL As Australia s peak professional organisation, ACEL is a forward thinking, relevant and responsive agent of change and innovation. ACEL is a not-for-profit company and a learning organisation that is continuously improving its practices to harness national and global opportunities. As the premier provider of resources and experiences for educational leaders, ACEL s membership continues to grow with over 7000 members actively connecting and participating in regular professional learning opportunities OUR PURPOSE To inspire, support, recognise and advocate for excellence in educational leadership. The State and Territory branches play a vital role in working together with the National Board and national office to enact this purpose.

6 ACEL State and Territory 2017 Branch Executive Elections ROLE OF THE BRANCHES ACEL has branches in all 8 states and territories and form a vital part of the national structure of the organisation. The Branch is managed by a voluntary, duly elected Branch Executive comprised of not less than five and not more than 12 persons all of whom must be ACEL members of that Branch. The role of the Branch is to achieve the purpose of ACEL in the relevant State or Territory by: promoting the purpose and achievement of the strategic goals of ACEL supporting, developing and promoting the activities of ACEL amongst members and educators across the state/territory providing a means of presenting the views of Branch members
7 ELECTION OF BRANCH EXECUTIVES 2017 Elections will be held in all states and territories to select executives to serve on branch executive committees starting in October ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Branch Executives: shall have a current interest / involvement in education and leadership and show consistent commitment to the mission and purpose of ACEL shall hold office for a term of three years with possible re-election for a maximum of two consecutive terms shall elect one of the Branch Executive to be Branch President, who will also become the Branch Appointed Director on the National Board shall elect one of the Branch Executive to be Branch Vice-President shall elect one of the Branch Executive to be Branch Secretary may appoint a member with a registered address in the Branch to fill any casual vacancy for the duration remaining of the original term of a duly elected Branch Executive member shall administer the Branch for the purposes of achieving the strategic goals ACEL shall, as far as practical, attend Branch Executive meetings and other ACEL events held within the Branch State or Territory
8 ACEL State and Territory 2017 Branch Executive Elections ELECTION PROCESS AND CONDITIONS Nominations are to be made by completing an online form provided, including a proposer and seconder. Candidates are to provide a statement consisting of a maximum of 200 words that includes: relevant experience and qualifications contribution to educational leadership and/or ACEL to date the key opportunities and/or issues facing ACEL. All nominees must be members of ACEL. All nominees must not have currently served two consecutive terms as an ACEL Branch Executive. All nominees must reside in State of Application. IMPORTANT DATES: Friday 19th May Nominations Open Friday 9th June Nominations Close Monday 12th June Online Voting Open Friday 30th June Online Voting Close Thursday 6th July Announcement of Elected Executives
