4 MARCH 2, 2015 DAY By Assemblyman Ohrenschall: Assembly Bill No. 210 AN ACT relating to family law; requiring the resolution of disputes before a family court by nonadversarial methods under certain circumstances; revising provisions governing the mandatory mediation program in a family court in a county whose population is 700,000 or more; and providing other matters properly relating thereto. Assemblyman Ohrenschall moved that the bill be referred to the Committee on Judiciary. By Assemblyman Ohrenschall: Assembly Bill No. 211 AN ACT relating to liens; revising provisions requiring a lessee to establish a construction disbursement account or record a surety bond before beginning a work of improvement involving certain renewable energy projects; revising provisions concerning the disbursement of funds from a construction disbursement account and the form of surety bonds required to be posted to release prospective and existing lien rights with respect to such projects; and providing other matters properly relating thereto. PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, Nevada s communities are enriched and enlivened by the contributions nonprofit organizations make to the quality of life of the residents of Nevada; and WHEREAS, More than 5,000 tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations serve communities in all 16 counties and one independent city of Nevada; and WHEREAS, People throughout Nevada support and participate in nonprofit organizations by working as staff and serving as board members, volunteers, and donors; and WHEREAS, According to the Alliance for Nevada Nonprofits, Nevada s nonprofit sector has over $19 billion in assets and annually contributes over $6 billion to the State s economy, manages more than 59 million volunteer hours valued at over $1.3 billion, and employs more than 43,200 people; and WHEREAS, Nonprofit organizations bring Nevadans together to address pressing needs and find creative and effective solutions in our communities; and WHEREAS, They build partnerships and collaborate with businesses, governments, faithbased organizations, and other groups to expand resources in every corner of our State; and WHEREAS, Nonprofit organizations provide opportunities for developing skills, leadership abilities, and services through civic engagement; and WHEREAS, They play a central role in the democratic process by educating members of the public about vital issues in their communities and in our State and by providing a means for individuals to deliberate on and advocate for public policies and decisions that affect them; and WHEREAS, Every Nevadan benefits from vital contributions made by nonprofit organizations that strengthen our social fabric, public policy, sense of community, and future; now, therefore, be it PROCLAIMED, That the Nevada Assembly congratulates and extends its sincere appreciation to charitable nonprofit organizations for their dedicated and unselfish service to their communities and to the Nevada residents, whose volunteer efforts and donations make these organizations strong; and be it further PROCLAIMED, That the Nevada Assembly declares March 2015, as Appreciate Nevada Nonprofits Month.
