3 MINUTES GREEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE CAVE CREEK, ARIZONA THURSDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2009 CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Patrick Grady called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. SILENT ROLL CALL: Committee Members Present: Chairman Patrick Grady, Vice-Chairman George Ross, Bill Allen, Nancy Caroli, Jennie Cure, Fred Mueller, Linda Nesmith, Lee Pello, Greg Smith, and Theresa Rigney. Committee Members Absent: Staff Present: Assistant to the Town Clerk Teresa Riza CONSENT AGENDA Approval of the November 12, 2009 Green Advisory Meeting Minutes. Committee Action Taken: Motion Carried GENERAL AGENDA ITEMS 1. Discussion and Approval of 2010 Committee Strategic Priorities Grady started by presenting Cave Creek Green Advisory Committee 2010 Strategic Priorities: 1. Implement energy conservation, efficiency, and renewable energy activities to assist Town residents/businesses and to improve municipal energy consumption/costs. 2. Pursue the establishment of a Community Garden with a focus on the formation of a garden club. 3. Carry out education activities in the community to encourage individual and Town sustainable actions. Grady discussed these items with Town Manager Usama Abujabarah for approval. Asked to look the priorities over with staff and he (Grady) would follow up. The committee will hold themselves accountable to these 3 major priorities. Cure Will form Garden Club to take interested parties and put together committees for fund raising, from 5013C, organize volunteers, etc. Linda is currently establishing a database and there are over 200 people interested in the project. Ross It is important to know how many of those Garden Club volunteers are Cave Creek residents. Green Advisory Committee Thursday, December 10, 2009 Page 1 of 2 A1. 4 Nesmith Maybe a good volunteers are Cave Creek residents. We will also publish meeting and articles in the Sonoran News. First Garden Club Meeting in January. Additional conversation on garden. Everyone agreed that the general language was good Motion Carried 10-0 M/Allen S/Smith 2. Renewable Energy Subcommittee; and to adopt new purpose language for said new Subcommittee. Grady- Explanation of by-laws and reason for merging; trying to stay consistent and trying to focus. Combined subcommittee is Energy Conservation, Efficiency, and Renewable Energy Subcommittee. Motion Carried to adopt language 10-0 M/Ross S/Rigney 3. Discussion and Approval of new Committee meeting date for January of Grady Subcommittees will meet in January so we will cancel January meeting and meet in February with subcommittee reports.
