Watch your 99s s! 2019 AOPA Flight Training Scholarships Applications Open AOPA members have access to a wide array of benefits, including the opportunity to apply for flight training scholarship awards. Thanks to generous donations to the AOPA Foundation, AOPA can offer scholarships to help members reach their flight training goals. Scholarships ranging from $2,500-$10,000 will be awarded to high school students, teachers who are introducing youth to aviation, and other AOPA members. Depending on the scholarship, funds may be used for primary flight training or advanced certificates and ratings. 2 Consider Wind Chills When You Fly Karen Kalishek hought: Civil Air Patrol operations in Wisconsin (our state Wing) apply the following guidelines for flying in cold weather. These parameters have been developed for safety while allowing air crew members to complete missions. It would make sense for all of us who fly to consider the effects of wind chill and to prepare for possible off-airport landings during the winter months. Note that temperature/wind speed combinations that may occur regularly in Wisconsin are in the caution zone. Secretary s report: Approved minutes from Jan. Newsletter. Treasurer s report: As of Dec 31 Revenue is below expected, expenses below expected. Maria paid website domain charges from personal finances. She requested reimbursement. Move to reimburse, seconded and approved. Unfinished Business: 1. Responsibilities of Intl Conference A. Goody Bag list sent to December meeting to be reviewed and voted on soon. B. Printing quotes Bridgett sent us the link for the WI Prison System to send docs for a quote. The price averages $.02/page. Lauie P got a quote from Sheboygan printer Diamond. Banquet booklet 300/$61.84; Conference booklet 300/$925.16; Annual Meeting booklet 300/ Darcy sent to Minnetta for clarification. This information will be communicated to Intl by Krys B. International Conference website for registration expected to be up and running mid January according to Minnetta G. Laurie P. read from Kathy Lester Ross with suggestions for meeting and goody bags. Discussed goody bag suggestions. Decision to be made with voting. Awards - Achievement numbers look to be trending up for Achievements to be counted and tallied on Awards sheet. Reviewed printed copy with those present. Expect copy in newsletter or before. Due to Krys Brown by Jan 26 in preparation for Awards Luncheon Feb 2 at Highway Harrys. Krys B gave out name tag to Cindy S. Winter North Central Section Meeting Feb 8-10 in Dayton in preparation for upcoming Annual Intl conference in July. Maria L and Kathy LR will be attending. Darcy possibly. Committee reports: Aerospace and Space Education Laurie P. She completed aviation activities for summer school Youth in Aviation at Sheboygan Aviation Heritage Center. There were a couple volunteers from 99s at Young Eagle s events. Laurie O has joined the CAP as an educator. She has received STEM funding for drone flying training. AE Scholarship no applicants. Fly now Bridgett N won a scholarship. Santori scholarship was awarded to Cindy S. Air marking 57C Colleen will work with Julie to complete the preparation for East Troy and hopefully set a date for later this year. Discussed that RYV needs a repaint and planning on doing this before the June Business meeting. Maria L helped Northwoods repaint the compass rose at Merrill this fall. Other repaints needed at MTW and RAC. Aviation Flying activities Laurie P volunteered for Young Eagles, a Poker Run, a pancake breakfast supported our members in the Passport program, and helping with CAP. By Laws and Standing Rules Kathy LR and Darcy have discussed what is needed. Completed the review of the current official documents. Need to set a meeting to set up what will be proposed for changes for voting.

4 Newsletter Bridgett sends out 55 s. Roster is 56 members. Discussed if anyone wanted printed copy to be send via USPS. No instructions to do so were given to Bridgett. Flying companion FAA has not needed this for the last few days. So many other organizations now do this. Forest of Friendship FOF motion to nominate Karen K. Seconded and approved. Karen accepted and will complete bio and confirm other information from Laurie P. Event Sept in Atchison, KS Insurance - no events and not needed. Legislations and Legal no chair Membership 56 total members now. 491/2 inducted Ned last summer. NIFA Maria L sent check already Treasurer Maria gave report already. See above. Nominating Committee - Still seeking nominations or intents to seek election. Still looking for Chair or Vice Chair and secretary and new nominating committee. Publicity and Public relations no chair Safety Education Karen K she has been completeing articles for the newsletter. Meeting Dates - Feb June Feb 2 : Awards Luncheon Krys B hosting at Highway Harry s 11am March 16 : Maria L hosting - MKE hunger task force volunteer 1-4 and refueling tour at 11. April 13 - Diane Welch FDL May 11 Karen K hosting at GRB or Mary Lou S at Cherry Land. June 8 RYV airmarking repaint 9 am and meeting 11. New Business: Laurie P suggested that the 99s host the July 12 movie night at the SBM Aviation Heritage Center Breaking Thru the Clouds. We agreed. Bridgett and Laurie suggested WI 99s host a Girls in Aviation Day. They will choose a date and expect to have members help volunteer on the date. Scholarship Committee Darcy has received the information from Terry C from Intl and has been joined by Bridgett and Dee on the committee to review and have something to present at June Business Meeting. 5 99s Wisconsin Chapter: Officer Changes and Elections 2019 Fellow Aviatrixes! We are entering the time period for you to consider an elected position within the 99s WI Chapter. Please consider nominating someone (with discussion with them first) or seeking a position within our 99s WI Chapter. The positions that will be elected are the following: Chairwoman Vice Chairwoman Treasurer Secretary 1 Director 3 Nominating committee (not an actual Officer but elected) According to our Bylaws and Standing Rules(see attached), these positions are for a year, but can be extended another year by acclamation, if no one seeks to run against you. The exception is the Director which is a 2 year term. We have 2 Directors and we elect one each year. If you are interested in seeking an officer position, there is the attached form (Intent to seek election) to complete and get to the Nominating Committee chair (Darcy Kulesha dwbkulesha@gmail.com), by our February meeting. We expect to have a slate for the election, to present at the March meeting. Once a slate is determined, the election will happen electronically in April and the results presented at the April meeting. The Officer will assume responsibilities after the Annual June Business meeting. There is the option to CO-Chair for the Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary. This has worked in the past when one person is not able to make all the meetings. It does take good communication with each other to make it work. If you have any questions or want to discuss positions, please contact Darcy, Trish Horn or Mary Lou Schroeder, members of the Nominating committee. SECTION 1. DUTIES OF OFFICERS A. The Chairman shall preside at all Chapter meetings and Board meetings and shall enforce the observance of the Bylaws; she shall see that all officers and members of the committees perform their respective duties as enjoined by the laws of the organization; shall appoint all committee chairman unless otherwise specified; shall carry out the collective wishes of the membership and be their spokesman on matters of Chapter policy. B. The Vice-Chairman shall assist the Chairman in the performance of her duties; shall preside at the Chapter meetings or Board meetings in the absence, resignation or removal from office of the Chairman. C. The Secretary shall have custody of the Chapter Charter, Articles of Incorporation, current Bylaws and current Standing Rules, and the official Chapter Meeting Minutes Book; shall be responsible for the accurate account of all transactions of the Chapter and Board meetings; shall file all papers and documents pertaining to the Chapter Corporation records; shall issue all notices as directed by the members in meetings or by the Chairman; shall maintain correct lists of active and inactive members including address and telephone numbers; and perform such other duties as are specified in the Standing Rules. D. The Treasurer shall be responsible for the control of all monies due the corporation and shall hold receipts for them; present the annual budget to the membership for approval; make the report of receipts and expenditures at the annual meeting; pay out such monies as authorized by the Board or as directed by the members at meetings; shall file such reports as required by the Section or by International, and perform such other duties as are specified in the Standing Rules.

The Board of Directors shall have general supervision of the affairs of the Chapter between its business meetings, will make recommendations to the Chapter, and shall perform such other duties as may be specified in these Bylaws. The Board shall be subject to the orders of the Chapter and none of its acts shall conflict with action taken by the Chapter. There will be plenty of help to get you settled in the new position.
