4 ii PREFACE GENERAL ELECTION, 1987 The term of the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories which had been elected in 1983 came to an end on August 17, Writs ordering a general election were directed to be issued on August 18, 1987 and to be made returnable on November 6, Nomination day at the general election was Monday, September 7, Three candidates having been elected by acclamation in the electoral districts of Inuvik, lqaluit and Yellowknife North, a poll was held on October 5, 1987 in each of the remaining twenty-one electoral districts. The first return was published in the Northwest Territories Gazette on September 15, 1987 and the last return was published on November 9, J.-M.
