He needs a correct count in order to have enough meat for everyone. We also ask that everyone please bring a side dish, salad, dessert, appetizer, or turkey garnish, and let know what you re bringing so he can make sure we don t get too many desserts (can you have too many desserts??) and not enough veggies. Bring a $20-$25 gift for the gift exchange. Rules for the exchange are: Each participating person (18 or older) will draw a number at random for the gift exchange. Then matching numbers will be drawn at random for the order of the exchange. Once the gift is opened it may be stolen up to three times. After which it is considered retired. In other words, once it has been claimed four times it is no longer available. The Club will be providing gift certificates for the juniors, therefore the juniors will not be participating in the gift exchange. Don t forget to bring your trophies, polished, to the party so they can be re-engraved for this year s winners. If you are not coming to the party, contact a board member about where you should drop off the trophy. 1

If we run out of space my neighbor has graciously offered his driveway for parking. New Board The new board members will be elected at the Banquet in January. 5 Minutes for Board Meeting held at El Fenix restaurant in Irving,Texas September 17, 2018 Meeting called to order at 1:40pm. Board Members attending: Cathy Meddaugh President Shari Degan Member at Large Kathy Felix Corresponding Secretary Donna Todd Vice President Linda Miller Treasurer Patti Caldwell Member at Large PRESIDENT: Discussion concerning Nominating Committee for upcoming Open positions on the Board for 2019/2020. Donna Todd volunteered to be the Board Member to serve on the Committee and also to serve as the Committee Chair. Donna will reach out to members she/we thought would be willing to serve on this Committee. TREASURER: Linda reported that the books are now closed on the 2018 GRCA Western Regional Specialty hosted by our Club in March. After repaying the Club ( DFWMGRC ) the funds that were loaned to The 2018 Western we (the Western) will have lost $ Linda asked permission and the board voted unanimously to close out the Western Bank account. Our 2018 taxes will be filed/processed through Phillip Smith who has done our taxes for several years. He has left the current firm that we used and started his own firm. Discussion concerning the Fundraising/Distribution Committee as we need to decide by the years end what charitable organization/s the Club would like to donate to for Shari Degan offered to Chair the committee. Kathy will send an blast to all Members for their suggestions to be submitted directly to Shari Degan. CORRESPONDING SECRETARY: Kathy asked the Board s thoughts on whether to offer the Club s Raffle donation of the K9III Dryer and Texas Cocktails basket individually or as one package The Board voted unanimously to offer the 2 items as one package. Dallas-Fort Worth Metro Golden Retriever Club Minutes of Membership Meeting November 13, 2018 Meeting was conducted at the home of Linda Miller. After pizza and drinks were served, President Cathy Meddaugh called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m. A quorum was present. In attendance were the following: Cathy Meddaugh, Shari Degan, Sherri Farmer, Linda Miller, Kathy Felix, Kris Evans, Donna Todd, Shari and Kevin Curran, Anna Curry, Barbara and David Brown, Ann Burke, Lynda Williams, Janet and John Frick, Kristin Quigley, Carol Sandusky, Ann Horton, Ronna and Terry Combs, Lesley Pettengill, Susan Beckman, Janie Jury, Jo Ellen Fulkerson, Debra Allen, Patty Williams, Kendra Johnson, Rita Robins, Joan Dunbar, Nancy Dubois, Nathan Risinger, Patti and Dick Caldwell. Linda Miller gave the Treasurer s Report. 5

6 New business started with report on 2019 March Specialty. Sherri Farmer, Show Chair, announced that our judges are Susan E. Foster (regular classes and Beginner Puppy) and Lacy Bauer (sweeps). Carol Mett is the obedience judge. We have added Veteran Obedience, Brace and Rally. All paperwork has been sent to AKC and has been approved. Trophies have already been chosen. David Brown reported on the 2019 July Specialty. We traditionally select a judge from the LSSC panel to save on our expenses. We could only choose from two who were available and approved to judge goldens. Of those two, Mr. William Sahloff, from Ohio, was chosen. He is provisional. Our Club gets credit for using a provisional judge and provisionals usually get good entries. David called him at the meeting and is waiting to hear back from him. Donna Todd reported on Fast CAT. Our scheduled October Fast CAT was cancelled because of weather conditions and she is trying to find a date for another one. All entry fees were returned to the entrants. Because we gave a full refund, AKC said they will apply our application fees to our next Fast CAT trial. It was announced that the month of November is the time to take nominations for the Board. Two positions are open, President and Member At Large. Kris Evans agreed to be the Member At Large candidate. Donna said she had not been able to find a candidate for President. Two candidates expressed interest at the meeting in running for President Anna Curry and Lesley Pettengill. Both will be asked for an stating their acceptance to run for the position. The final slate will be announced at the December meeting and will be published in the December Newsletter. Sherri Farmer led discussion on proposed Bylaws and Standing Rules changes that were ed to membership. Sherri announced that there are 34 members present at the meeting. A 2/3 majority vote is required to amend the Bylaws. A simple majority is required to amend the Standing Rules. It will take 23 votes to amend the Bylaws and 17 to amend the Standing Rules. Section 3-A: The Bylaws Committee accepted a friendly amendment to globally change the phrase, entirety of the business portion of a meeting to majority of the business portion of a meeting wherever it is mentioned in the amendments. The proposed rule change, as amended passed with the requisite 2/3 vote. There was a long discussion on Section 3-B. Opinions were offered as to why meetings were not being well attended and why members were not participating in club activities. It was suggested that we have more programs and have a consistent date that is published well in advance. Donna explained the difficulty in getting a speaker that is available on a specific day and finding an appropriate location. The Bylaws Committee accepted a friendly amendment to globally change the phrase Golden Supporters to Non-voting Members. The proposed rule change, as amended, passed with the requisite 2/3 vote. With this change, the proposed amendment to Section 3-B passed. In accordance with the above change, all instances of changing Golden Supporters to Non-Voting Members were accepted as housekeeping throughout. Accordingly, all references to member or members being changed to voting member or voting members were accepted as housekeeping throughout. Article III. Section 1. Again, entirety was changed to majority. With this change, motion carried on change of meetings being held a minimum of 6 times a year, eliminating the specific months. Section 3, (Board Meetings), Section 4, (Special Board Meetings), Section 5 (Voting on Board of Directors). All these changes passed as presented. Section 1 (Board of Directors) and Section 2 (Officers). This proposed change of not limiting terms of office DID NOT PASS. Section 2-E: This proposed amendment passed with changing Any Board member may request to Any member may request Section 3-B (Ethical Guidelines): Proposed amendment passed with the change from vote of Board to vote of membership. Section 4 (Vacancies), Section 5 (Eligibility for Board of Directors), Section 3 (Nominations) All passed as presented. Article VI, Section 1 (permanent Committees) passed as presented. 6

7 Article VII (Discipline), Section 2 (Charges). Changed Golden Supporters to non-voting members. Then passed as presented. Section 3 (Board Hearing). Proposed amendment passed as written. GENERAL STANDING RULES, III The Bylaws Committee accepted a friendly amendment to add or any other AKC, UKC, or GRCA sanctioned event after Field trial. With this addition, proposed amendment passed. STANDING RULES PERTAINING TO COMMITTEES. All proposed amendments passed. Section III. All proposed changes to the Committee Responsibilities were adopted as presented. Membership Applicants. Entirety was changed to majority. Amendment passed as presented. Statistics Committee and Hospitality Committee Responsibilities. Amendments passed as presented.
