1 ANNUAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY UNION OF LIBERIAN ASSOCIATIONS IN THE AMERICAS (ULAA) 1629 K Street NW Suite 300 Washington, DC GENERAL AASSEMBLY RESOLUTION (GAR ) WHEREAS, Chapter VIII of the Union Constitution defines National General Assembly as the highest decision making body and shall approve new policy decisions of the Union and shall be presided over by the National President; WHEREAS, the Constitution provides that any decisions of the Assembly shall be FINAL and shall not be REVIEWED, ALTERED or CHANGED by any Organ of the Union EXCEPT by the Assembly in session; WHEREAS, the Constitution requires that the National General Assembly shall meet each year in the month of September in a city of a chartered Member Organization in GOOD STANDING with the Union; WHEREAS, due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of the Union, coupled with past history that the constitutional MONTH (September) of the General Assembly was moved to October 2018 for the purpose of hosting the 2018 General Assembly; WHEREAS, delegates from Member Organizations converged on the City of Newark, New Jersey at the Union 44 th National General Assembly; WHEREAS, delegates broke in different groups to discuss the President s Report and the Presenters Reports; WHEREAS, the President s group was mandated to discuss straight the President s Report; WHEREAS, the Presenters group was mandated to discuss straightly the contents in the Presenters Group; WHEREAS, the two (2) groups submitted their recommendations to Plenary; WHEREAS, upon deliberations of said recommendations by Plenary, the delegates representing member organizations of the Union assembled at the 44 th Annual National General Assembly; do hereby RESOLVED to wit: 1. That ULAA takes advantage of investment opportunities and initiate vigorous fundraising activities to support its advocacy programs and/or projects in its member chapters and Liberia. 2. That ULAA encourages the participation of Youths in all of its activities and/or national agenda programs. 3. That ULAA strengthens its advocacies to rapidly respond to issues both here in the US Diaspora and the Homeland.
2 4. That ULAA finds new strategies to promote Dual Citizenship and Out of Country Voting (OCV). 5. That ULAA remains the single most Umbrella Organization in the US Diaspora & Canada. 6. That ULAA remains steadfast in its immigration advocacy, bearing in mind the END of Deferred Enforced Departure on March 31, That ULAA networks with professional groups to create a pool of professionals for possible deployment in Liberia to help with nation building. 8. That ULAA establishes a permanent conflict resolution committee (PCRC) to resolve existing conflicts and future conflicts/disputes in member-chapters of the Union. 9. That ULAA holds a National Investment Conference on Liberia in Done this 20th day of October, 2018 at the Union 44th Annual General Assembly, in the City of Newark, New Jersey. Signed: 1.
