1 B E L A R U S in Global Ratings 205 was a year when was emerging from its (self) isolation. In order to put the country into a wider global context Pact releases the in Global Ratings 205 infographics report. The Report offers policy makers, development aid professionals and anyone interested in graphical data on the country s international rankings, collected from various publicly available sources in five categories: Freedoms; Business & Economy; Human Capital; Social Dimension; and Security. While we leave it to the reader to interpret the data in the Global Ratings Report, we offer, where possible, historical rankings in order to identify trends.

The rating uses a scale of through 7, with representing the highest and 7 the lowest level of freedom. Ten economic quantitative and qualitative factors are scored on a scale of 0 (least free) to 00 (most free). A country s overall score is derived by averaging these ten economic freedoms, with equal weight being given to each. 7 in the Ease of Doing Business 20 ( 44) Singapore Eritrea The Ease of Doing Business index is an index created by the World Bank Group. Higher rankings (a low numerical value) indicate better, usually simpler, regulations for businesses and stronger protections of property rights. Economies are ranked on their ease of doing business, from 89, with first place being the best. A high ranking (a low numerical rank) means that the regulatory environment is conducive to business operation. source: in the Legatum Prosperity Norway 40 ( 63) Central African Republic 42 The Legatum Prosperity Index is an annual ranking, developed by the Legatum Institute, of 42 countries. The ranking is based on a variety of factors including wealth, economic growth, education, health, personal well-being, and quality of life. The 204 Legatum Prosperity Index is based on 89 different variables analyzed across 42 nations around the world. The 89 variables are grouped into 8 sub-indexes (economy, entrepreneurship & opportunity, governance, education, health, safety & security, personal freedom, social capital), which are averaged using equal weights. source: page 6
