Research Motivation Background of Humane Entrepreneurship 1
1. What are some of the unique challenges that social entrepreneurs face? Describe one project/program that you think addresses these challenges well and explain how. My thoughts on these questions are: 1. Unique challenges that S.E faces would be: a) how to build a unique brand, b) how to find the right funding and manage money, c)how to balance creating economic value and social benefit to be compatible, d) how to get customized support from the government in terms of policy, etc. To deal with these challenges, I would like to suggest setting a project to study on how to induce the effective government policy including financial support to social enterprises. Researchers, social entrepreneurs, professors from different countries may participate in the proposed project. More details can be further discussed.

Humane Entrepreneurship A Balance Between Doing Well and Doing Good Economical For Sustainability Social For Human by Sheikh Ghazali Abod, PhD Chief Operating Officer,CEDAR 29 th October 2015 THE 3 rd ASIAN SME CONFERENCE 2015
Humane Entrepreneurship :Doing Well(Efficiency, Necessary condition) + Doing Good(Sufficiency, sufficient condition) NURT URING Huma nity NURTURI NG EXCELLE NCE Equality Empowe rment Ethics Engage Ecosyst ment em Enlighte nment Envisio ning Enthusia sm Experi Excelle mentati nce on Do Good Socio-Economic Impact Do Well Sustainable Growth
Good Company? 1.Necessary condition for good company: ASAP Should be ASAP: As sustainable as possible Need Entrepreneurship Goal: Enterprise development & Eco-systemic development 2. Sufficient condition for good company: ASGP Should be ASGP: As good as possible Need Humane factors Goal: Human development & Well-being Company which is not only sustainable but also humane can be called as Humane Enterprise with Humane Entrepreneurship. 6
2. What can be done to better scale efforts to promote social entrepreneurship both in host countries and in countries of origin/heritage? Holding more frequent international forum where case of successful S.Es are presented. It is an effective education opportunity for university students. Effort to attract government support, etc
3. Based on lessons learned from your own experience, what advice do you have for those in the audience who are working on projects/programs to promote social entrepreneurship? How can we broaden, deepen and make more sustainable the impact of these efforts? I think S.E has much similarities with entrepreneurship. That's why S.E should focus on innovation, proactiveness, risk taking. as firms used to do. The difference is that S.E emphasizes the social mission. So I would like to recommend you to extend and broaden the scope of S.E and try to access to the core competence of private firms.
Conventional Enterprise vs Social Enterprise POP(Point of Parity) & POD(Point of Difference) Social Enterprise An innovative business whose core mission is to maximize social and/or environmental impact. Social Entrepreneurship: Focus on the solution of social issues. Addresses social problems or needs that are unmet by private markets or governments. Social entrepreneurship is motivated primarily by social benefit. Social: Latin word socil( allies) you are not my enemy You are my allies We are supporting you. You are supporting us. 1 st line to protect us.
POP(Point of Parity) Social and commercial entrepreneurship have most of the same characteristics. Conventional Entrepreneur: Focus on the market Conventional Entrepreneur: Traditional Performance Measure, like profit Social Entrepreneurship :Performance measure are social changes/
4. This is for Dr. Kim, ICSB has been promoting this new concept of Humane Entrepreneurship? How is this different from Social Entrepreneurship and Creating Shared Values? Basically H.E pursues and deal with the profitable and human organization by value creation, and cover both human side and enterprise side. This is something different from traditional concept of entrepreneurship which focuses on new business opportunities and emphasizes an entrepreneur's role as the core of entrepreneurial activities. H.E is also different from S.E in terms of core concept and core value. As you are well aware, the eventual goal of S.E is how to make the society and world better and happier. There are two aspects to every type of organization, the Enterprise side and the Humane side. Both are important to an organization, and this research on Humane Entrepreneurship aims to identify and characterize what different cultures deem important in order to create a well balanced environment for everyone. In terms of difference and connections between S.E and CSV, Professor Michael said in a interview that S.E is a transitional vehicle of CSV. Because CSV creates both economic value and social benefit. CSV pursues solving social needs.
