The event will be aimed at regional and local practitioners, SMEs, social partners, non-governmental organisations and project partners. It will be designed to raise awareness about the demonstrated added value of EU funding on regional economic development as well as research and innovation and cross-border co-operation. This will be demonstrated first-hand through the presentation of best practice examples. Active participation of the audience and question-time will be encouraged to ensure that also people who have little or no previous awareness nor experience of European Regional Policy and EU funding may be informed of the opportunities available. This pilot action was implemented in two phases; during the first phase 27 companies developed their CSR strategy based on the CSR guideline In 7 steps to a CSR strategy ; within the second phase these companies elaborated their individual sustainability reports based on the guideline Development of sustainability reports in SMEs based on the criteria of the Global Reporting Initiative. The final conference will take place in the Lower Austrian Government in October Within this event the project results as well as the sustainability reports and the project booklet will be presented. Furthermore the participating companies have the possibility to report about their experiences and challenges related to the development of the CSR strategy and the sustainability reports. All companies will receive a certificate. In a concluding panel discussion the present politicians will discuss about CSR and sustainability. The department of European and international affairs of the Land Steiermark is organising a discussion on this issue, together with the advocacy for disabled persons and the representative for equal treatment of the Land Steiermark. Experts as well as people concerned will not only discuss the topic of disability and poverty, they will furthermore try to find solutions to deal with this issue. After the discussion, a reading will be performed by August Schmölzer (actor on national TV).
