1 LOZIER OMAHA TABLE TALK GET OUT THE VOTE October 4
2 HISTORY & purpose Omaha Table Talk is one of the first local human-relations programs to provide facilitated and informally structured gatherings for people of different ethnicities and cultures throughout our community, to engage in conversations about diversity and inclusion over dinner. Omaha Table Talk has been offered in our community for over 10 years and is the result of decades-long efforts by engaged community members to have real, open dialogues about how various forms of identity impact our community and interactions with each other. Our monthly Omaha Table Talk series programming highlights themes and topics based on trending issues our community is facing. Our quarterly series, Race Dialogues, highlights intersectional identities and experiences impacting people of color. Each Table Talk program opens with a panel of speakers and is then broken into small group discussions led by trained facilitators. These facilitators help guide safe, honest, and open conversations around the highlighted theme or topic. Additionally, every February to compliment Black History Month, we host our Main Table Talk Event. During the Main Table Talk Event, Inclusive Communities partners with various restaurants and businesses who graciously donate meals and private spaces for participants to enjoy while having meaningful dialogues about race. Programs, such as Omaha Table Talk, ultimately help eliminate prejudice and inequities in our community by providing participants with the opportunity to interact with each other and learn from people with diverse identities and experiences. Omaha Table Talk strives to make our community a more inclusive place to live.
