1 CALL FOR PAPER International Conference on the Levers of Durable Performance in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) 4-5 May 2015 Pau Business School (ESC Pau) is pleased to invite proposals for its International Conference on the Levers of Durable Performance in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), to be held on the 4th and 5th of May 2015 in the historic city of Pau, France. The conference is jointly organized by IRMAP ESC Pau. The conference is open to professionals, researchers, PhD and Post Doc students and participants from government and public institutions. Conference languages are English, French and Arabic. Deadline for proposals: 5 th January 2015

2 BACKGROUND The latest phase of Globalization has led to structural changes in the economies, societies and institutions of the developing countries of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Trade and financial liberalization has rendered some of these economies vulnerable to the vagueries of global and trade flows and helped others achieve better living standards. MENA countries have become significant destinations of foreign investments by transnational corporations. This trend has continued even during the recent global economic slowdown and the ongoing political instability in the region. These socioeconomic changes pose new challenges to firm managers and policy makers as to how firms and the domestic economy could be managed in a way that maximizes the gains from openness while preparing for the threats it generates. CONFERENCE THEMES The conference is open to contributions from all areas of economics and management sciences. Nevertheless, we especially encourage submissions related to the following topics: GLOBALIZATION AND ECONOMIC OPENNESS Capital flows and financial systems Free trade Labour mobility INTERNATIONALIZATION OF FIRMS Outsourcing, offshoring and relocating Sustainable development and corporate social responsibility Symmetric and asymmetric alliances Performance monitoring and risk management Marketing, innovation Entrepreneurship PUBLIC MANAGEMENT Institutional reforms Decentralization, Neo-Weberian Reforms, New Public Management ACADEMIC & INSTITUTIONAL PARTNERSHIPS The conference is organized by Pau Business School. It s supported by the CREG - Management Department and by the CATT - Economics Department of Pau University (UPPA) and sponsored by the Pau Béarn Chamber of Commerce and Industry (France). RIBAF (Review of International Business and Finance) will publish a set of selected papers presented at the conference. 2

On the first page of the paper abstract, the paper title, the name of author(s), address, communication information ( , posting information) and the institutional affiliation must be defined. On the second page, the paper abstract should include the subject, purpose, problem definition and methodology (statistical techniques, sampling, measurement instruments employed) and the results (key words for the concluded results) of the study. Paper abstracts, should be sent as a word document, A4 format, single spacing, using Times New Roman 12 font size, one inch (2.5 cm) top margin and one inch (2.5 cm) left, right and bottom margin and should be attached to the electronic mail. The main topic and some key words (no more than 5) should be given. Font should be as defined below. Paper Heading: 14 font size, in bold, capitals and centred. Author name: 10 font size, in bold, centred The institutional affiliation, address and 12 font size, centred. The abstract should reflect only what will appear in the paper. To produce a structured abstract, please complete the following fields about your paper. There are four mandatory fields (Purpose, Design, Findings and Value); the other two fields (Research limitations/implications and practical implications) may be omitted if they are not applicable to your paper. 4

How are the objectives achieved? Include the main method(s) used for the research. What is the approach to the topic and what is the theoretical or subject scope of the paper? What was found in the course of the work? This will refer to analysis, discussion, or results. If research is reported on in the paper, this section must be completed and should include suggestions for future research and any identified limitations in the research process. What outcomes and implications for practice, applications and consequences are identified? Not all papers will have practical implications but most will. What changes to practice should be made as a result of this research/paper? What is new in the paper? State the value of the paper and to whom. REGISTRATION The registration fee for conference participants is: 150 Euros for professionals and researchers 50 Euros for PhD students The registration fee includes conference lunches and drinks. It doesn t include travel and accommodation expenses. Payment can be made by check or in cash at the reception desk.
