Eggum, CFI Fire Investigator 7667 Cahill Road, Suite 250, Edina, Minnesota Years Experience: 41 Professional Summary: In February of 1970, Mr. Eggum was commissioned as a 2 nd LT in the United States Army Military Police Corp. My duties involved Military Police operations both in combat and garrison environments. After discharge from the United States Army, Mr. Eggum was employed by the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), as a Special Agent, investigating crimes of state wide importance and influence. These crimes included homicides, illegal drugs, vice, organized crime and misconduct in public office. Mr. Eggum was assigned to the Arson Bureau of the Division of Criminal Investigation as a Deputy State Fire Marshal with the specific responsibility to investigative fires suspected or known to be arson in the State of Wisconsin. Between the years of September of 1979 and December 2000 (date of retirement from DCI) Mr. Eggum investigated over 400 fires including explosions, of which 250 fires were determined to be arson. The investigation resulted in the arrest of over 61 persons. The total number of convictions was 59 of the 61 arrests. These arsons/bombings included over 32 fire deaths and major loss fires. In December of 2000, Mr. Eggum was employed by EFI Global as a fire investigator with the responsibility to investigated fires loss for the insurance industry or other interested parties. Mr. Eggum has investigated over 1000 fires to date as an employee of EFI Global. Mr. Eggum has received 11 Letters of Commendation for investigative excellent, in 1988 was awarded the Wisconsin Arson Investigator of the Year Award by the International Association of Arson Investigators (Wisconsin Chapter). In 1989 Mr. Eggum received the Distinguished Service Award from Wisconsin Law Enforcement Officers Association, in 1994 the US Department of Justice awarded me the Public Service Award for investigative excellent. In 1999 Mr. Eggum received the District Attorney s Investigative Achievement Award for investigative teamwork by the District Attorneys of Brown, Winnebago and Outagamie Counties and in 1999 Mr. Eggum received a Certificate of Appreciation from the American Society of Industrial Security Fox Valley Chapter. Basil, Attorney at Law, Clausen Miller, PC Chicago, Illinois Land lord failed to keep commercial rental property in good repair resulting in loss of property of the tenant by fire. A retail pool table and gaming company rented a large warehouse from the owner to store product. The building was in despair and had electrical system that needed replacement. An electrical wall light failed and caused a fire that resulted in a million dollar loss to the tenant. Tenant s insurance company Zurich was awarded monies at the end of a week jury trail. The insured had a disagreement with his wife and entered his garage placed gasoline on combustibles stored in the garage and set the fire, which destroyed $650,000 home. The insured claimed that he accidently caused the fire. The insurance company denied the claim. On the eve of the civil trail the insured agreed to a settlement that favored the insurance company Deputy District Attorney Tom Schneider, Milwaukee County District Attorney, Milwaukee, Wisconsin Criminal Arson/Homicide Investigation Mr. Eggum was the case agent in the criminal investigation of Dillard Kelly a major cocaine dealer in Milwaukee and his hired torch Ed Fireman Ed Clayton who were both charged with 7 separate counts of arson to building and 7 separate counts of homicide by arson. This investigation was conducted over a two year period and involved wire tapes, undercover investigation in Milwaukee, WI and Jackson, Mississippi and hundreds of interviews. Both persons were convicted of all counts and were sentenced to life in prison.
