3 Remembering the True Victims Remembering the True Victims, Inc. (RTTV) is a 501(c)3 non-profit. Its mission is advocating, through public awareness and education, for victims of crime while never losing focus that those victims are the only "true victims." This is done by providing heightened awareness of the far reaching effects of crime. RTTV's history dates back to 1997 and it was "officially" established with its non-profit status in Mission Advocate for victims of domestic violence and violent crime through public awareness and education To never lose focus of the fact that those victims are the only true victims Purpose The purpose of Remembering the True Victims (RTTV) is to provide heightened awareness of the far reaching effect of crime. This is accomplished: Through Impact of Crime classes, held in local, state and federal penal institutions, RTTV helps offenders come to terms with the effect their crime has had on the victim, the victim s family, their own families and society. Through training classes for new recruits into police departments, parole and probation agents and others in the criminal justice system, RTTV helps educate that crime has only one true victim but has a far reaching effect on society. By offering information to medical professionals, RTTV assists in developing a clearer picture of the after-effects of crime on a victim, along with more awareness into domestic violence. RTTV s web site presents a realistic view of the impact of crime through the eyes of a victim. Page 3 of 9

4 Remembering the True Victims (cont) Ongoing Activities Speaks in prisons, directly to offenders (Impact of Crime Classes), describing the far reaching effects of crime; along with stressing that, while all of society is a victim of crime, there is only one true victim. Is a center for resources to support groups, shelters, and provide assistance in the criminal justice system. Participates, in the education process of new police officers, training parole and probation officers, along with others in the criminal justice system to clarify the real impact of crime. Takes part in presentations on college campuses through criminal justice and victimology classes. Page 4 of 9
