Key achievements: Developed an HIV/AIDS strategy for the Department. Organized a workshop on human security and HIV/AIDS : Director, Kosovo Project, International Crisis Group (Kosovo) Carried out political assessments and local/international advocacy activities, served as project spokesperson, and supervised the research team which produced influential reports affecting policy-making in Kosovo. Key achievements: Principal author of six ICG reports. Testified as a witness before a U.S. Congressional Committee examining the ethnic crisis in Kosovo.
2 2001: Health Consultant, UK Department for International Development (Kosovo) Worked on a capacity-strengthening transitional initiative to reform the health care sector. Key achievement: Created an implementation plan to use a 100,000 development grant from Britain executed in Kosovo through the UN Department of Health. 2000: Health Advisor, Canadian International Development Agency (Kosovo) Co-ordinated information sharing on Kosovo health sector needs among Canadian and international donors, and worked to ensure that Canadian project funding and implementation satisfied lead-agency regulations. Key achievement: Developed a strategy for and initiated discussions among community and international-agency leaders to incorporate minority communities into Canadian-funded health treatment facilities Desk Officer, Kosovo and Serbia Assistance, Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (Canada) Assisted in the development of Canadian humanitarian/peace building policy for Kosovo and Serbia, and worked in co-operation with CIDA to implement a regional aid program. Key achievement: Co-ordinated multi-departmental Canadian government participation in regional Stability Pact working tables and represented Canada at meetings abroad Field Officer, United Nations High Commission for Refugees (Guinea) Assessed refugee camp living conditions, registered newly arrived and repatriating refugees, and supervised distribution of non-perishable and food aid in refugee camps in the region of Guinea bordering Sierra Leone and Liberia. Key achievement: Interviewed refugees, identified vulnerable individuals, and filed reports on human rights violations Research Associate, International Peace Research Institute PRIO (Norway) Served as lead researcher on a major environment and conflict project. Key achievement: Identified methods to improve the quality of subsequent research Research Associate, University of Toronto (Canada) Assisted in the research and dissemination of reports relating renewable resource scarcity to conflicts in Rwanda, South Africa and India. Key achievement: Provided information to senior Canadian and American government officials in an advocacy campaign to raise awareness of linkages between resource issues and global conflict. C.
