7 Intervention area 3: Social protection systems Gap: Response: Modalities: Lack of comprehensive social protection systems Enhance national capacity to: (1) address new forms of vulnerabilities (disasters, migration, social unrest) in addition to poverty & social marginalization; (2) establish comprehensive social protection systems aligned with development policies; (3) give voice to marginalized groups Training, advisory services, advocacy, South- South cooperation

8 Intervention area 4: Gender mainstreaming Gap: Response: Modalities: Insufficient institutional capacity to mainstream gender dimensions into development policies & programmes Enhance capacity of (1) National Women s Machineries to mainstream gender into national development agenda (2) ESCAP secretariat to mainstream gender into their work with line ministries & stakeholders Training, advisory services, advocacy, South- South cooperation

Final Review of the Implementation of the Asian and Pacific Decade of Disabled Persons, , Incheon, Republic of Korea October Second Review and Appraisal of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing, Macao, China, (1 preparatory meeting in Beijing) 3. 6 th Asian and Pacific Population Conference Ministerial Conference, Bangkok
