5 THE ADALA VILLAGE WATER SUPPLY NETWORK AND ITS SOLAR PANELS
6 Before we used 60 liters of gasoline in 10 hours for the generator in order to fill the 80 tons water tower, now with the solar panel system set up by the IOM, it became a lot easier says Hamza ould Abdul Hakim, head of the Adala water tower a village located 60 km from Bassikounou, thanks to funding from the US government. 9 THE POULTRY OF THE REFUGEE CAMP OF M BÉRA ZONE 1 AND ZONE 2
10 A consultant specialized in poultry farming trained and sensitized the women of M Bera camp on chicken farming and on the maintenance of the henhouse. He explained to them the importance of products used in farming while the women also received management trainings to help them grow their business. Two henhouses were set up within the camp to improve food production. Fatma, a beneficiary, said: Since the arrival of chickens, we have an activity that occupies us and helps us generate revenues. 18 Livestock is one of the most important sources of survival for the M Bera camp refugees. The distribution of meat becomes much more hygienic thanks to the slaughterhouse set up by IOM. 21 THE WATER SUPPLY NETWORK OF KLEIVA VILLAGE
22 IOM staff visited the village of Kleiva to visit and supervise the work of the current water tower. Thanks to this new infrastructure, the inhabitants of the village that comprises 150 households (about 1100 people) will finally have access to water to irrigate their fields to water animals, and for their consumption. 23
24 THE WATER SUPPLY NETWORK OF NERE VILLAGE
25 IOM staff traveled to the village of Nere to visit and supervise the work of the current water tower. Thanks to this new infrastructure, the inhabitants of the village that comprises 170 households (around 1,200 people) will finally have access to water to irrigate their fields to water animals, and for their consumption. 27 LAGHDAV VETERINARY PARK
28 I own 200 cows, and since we get nutritional supplements and the veterinary park, the cattle are getting better, says Cheikhna, head of Laghdav village. IOM set up, with funding from the US government, a vaccination fleet to improve animal health in the region. Livestock being the main wealth of the population.
