5 A detainee may be released days after capture. The Combined Review and Release Board looks at the detainee s record within 90 days of detention. Day 0 Detention Day 7 Detention Day 90 Detention Day 180 After seven days of detention, the Magistrate s Cell and Central Criminal Court of Iraq reviews the detainee s record. A Multi-National Force Review Committee interviews the detainee every six months of detention. 5

16 Care and Custody انرعبية و اإلهتمبو Detainee Operations: Quality of Life: We are dedicated to the welfare of the detainees. The highest standard of custody and care is given, to include allowing visitors, receiving mail and unannounced visits by the International Committee of the Red Cross. 17 Medical Detainees receive the same medical treatment as Coalition Forces. Healthcare for detainees is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. ػ ذاس 17

18 VOLUNTARY ADULT EDUCATION CLASSES The Inner-Compound School is taught in concert with hired teachers and volunteer detainees. The curriculum is varied among many subjects including Arabic, English and math. 18

19 Dar al Hikmah An education center provides juvenile detainees with a basic education program up to a 12th grade level. 24 Family Visitation Family visitation is provided to the detainees, as well as letters and phone calls. The International Committee of the Red Cross also coordinates communication with detainees and their families. 24

25 Rule of Law Task Force 134 Rule of Law attorneys working in conjunction with various military, governmental and non-governmental entities to promote and strengthen the Rule of Law in Iraq. 26 Pledge Program The judicial pledge is the detainee s promise to an Iraqi judge to maintain peace and good conduct. 26

27 األسد فجر Lion s Dawn Release Ceremony This special program celebrates the release of a group of detainees. It s conducted as a public release ceremony for the detainees. Iraqi VIPs attend the ceremony and typically invite Iraqi/Pan-Arab media to cover.
