3 FORTHCOMING EVENTS 2003 NACSA Mini-Conference We look forward to seeing you at our annual NACSA meeting in Atlanta on August 15, 2003, prior to the ASA meeting. Highlight of the program is a special session on Social Capital in the Chinese Context to discuss Nan Lin s Social Capital by panelists Min Zhou, Chieh-Hsuan Chen, and Yanjie Bian. The six regular sessions include (1) Life in Networked Society I (in Chinese); (2) Research by Graduate Students; (3) Life in Networked Society II (in Chinese); (4) Migrants and Ethnicity; (5) Markets and Social Groups; and (6) Schooling and Social Psychological Outcomes. As usual, interested members of NACSA will have a group dinner on the evening of the NACSA conference. While chairing UCLA s Asian American Studies Interdepartmental Degree Program that is being departmentalized, Min managed to publish a number of journal articles and book chapters (see below). She also traveled to China in December 2002 with a group of North American Chinese scholars specializing in overseas Chinese studies upon the invitation of the China Overseas Exchange Association. Joining this group were four sociologists (Yang Fenggang, Yang Fei, Zong Li, and Zhou Min). Min is currently finishing up a co-edited book, Asian American Youth: Culture, Identity, and Ethnicity (Routledge). She has just been elected to the Council of the American Sociological Association and she is extremely grateful for the support from members of the NACSA.
