2 White dots = IAFR ministry locations IAFR Ministry Locations IAFR is always looking for the gaps - the stretches of the refugee highway along which the church still needs to show up and places where churches are asking for help as they seek the welfare of refugees. That s why we re partnering with refugee churches in Kakuma refugee camp (Kenya), and in Dzaleka refugee camp (Malawi). That s why we are in Europe (northern France, Malta, Rome and Vienna) and in the USA (Atlanta, northeastern Colorado and Minneapolis/St. Paul). More places are asking for what we have to offer. With God s provision and the right people, we look forward to fi lling these gaps soon. Networks IAFR is committed to strengthening networks that seek the welfare of refugees. 3 A Mission of Recovery It takes more than food, water, shelter and medical care to overcome the trauma of forced displacement. People need a supportive community and opportunitities to let their wounded hearts and souls fi nd healing. Their suffering has impacted their under- standing of themselves, the world around them and even God. A pastoral presense is often welcome. IAFR is helping people recover from displacement in refugee camps, countries of asylum as well as those of resettlement. Read on to learn more... 4 IAFR in Malawi IAFR is partnering with churches in Dzaleka refugee camp as they help their fellow refugees survive and recover from displacement. We break their isolation by visiting them 1-2 times per year to offer encouragement and support. Refugee church leaders often consult with us as they navigate many hardships, including hunger, hopelessness and confl ict within the camp. These shepherds carry a heavy and difficult burden as they tend to traumatized people who have little hope of ever leaving the camp. 5 IAFR in Kenya IAFR is partnering with churches in Kakuma refugee camp as they help their fellow refugees survive and recover from displacement. Together with our generous partners, we are strengthening our brothers and sisters in the following ways: We visit them 2-4 times per year to offer encouragment and practical support. We are providing Bibles for refugees - over 4,400 Bibles so far! We are helping our brothers and sisters build an Interdenominational School of Mission. We are providing Trauma Care Training in partnership with Wheaton College. We are providing Theological Training in partnership with Wheaton College. We are sponsoring and participating in an annual Refugee Youth Camp in partnership with Northwood Community Church (MN). IAFR is also helping provide shelters for refugees (700 people covered so far) and working to provide a supply of clean water in a nearby IDP camp. 6 IAFR in France IAFR is seeking the welfare of asylum-seekers together with the church in northern France. With few options for shelter, food, water and medical care, thousands of desperate women, children and men sleep in open fi elds and vacant buildings as they cross this part of Europe in search of refuge. They hunger for both food and a loving community. We are helping churches show up in life-giving ways on their journey. Our France Ministry Center Project will create a needed safe space in which Christians can meet with and assist refugees. 7 IAFR in Malta IAFR is assisting refugees with the need to rebuild their lives in ways that restore a sense of peace and safety and that facilitate integration. The crossings of the Sahara Desert and the Mediterranean Sea are behind them, but the trauma of forced displacement lingers and daily life remains fi lled with challenges and Photo: Meeting with refugees in an open center, Malta loneliness. Recovery happens one life at a time - so we walk alongside of our friends looking for ways to help them fi nd their feet and succeed in their new world. A shared meal, a listening ear, a word of encouragement, a time of prayer, networking with local services, and English lessons are some of the ways we are present in their lives. 6

8 IAFR in Atlanta IAFR is immersed in the communities of resettled refugees that call Clarkston, Georgia, their home. The crux of our ministry there is hospitality through which isolation is broken and the love of Jesus is expressed. Our presence in Clarkston is shepherd-like in that we care deeply for the well-being of our friends and neighbors there. Together with brothers and sisters from surrounding churches, we care for the sick, tutor kids, mentor teens, navigate confusing governmental systems, celebrate milestones - and sometimes just sit and talk over a cup of tea. 9 IAFR in Minneapolis IAFR is seeking the welfare of asylum seekers in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN. Although they are not on the radar of most of society, (including the church), the Twin Cities is host to over 1,000 asylum-seekers. Asylum seekers don t receive the same assistance offered to resettled refugees. They can easily fall through the cracks of society. After identifying housing as the number one need facing asylum seekers, IAFR launched our Jonathan House project that will offer a safe place, a supportive community and other needed assistance intended to strengthen resilience and set them up for success once their case is determined. 10 Training & Consulting The IAFR team is committed to training and strengthening local churches as well as like-minded mission agencies seeking the welfare of forcibly displaced people. IAFR ministry resources are used by people and organizations all over the world to help equip others to serve refugees. IAFR has made contact with her children in the USA and is helping connect them with people who can guide them through the family reunifi cation process. 10
