Helping people survive and recover from forced displacement
IAFR is an interdenomina onal Chris an mission a ency that is helpin people survive and recover from forced displacement. We do this in partnership with the church as we believe that she has a unique and cri cal role to play in the lobal refu ee crisis. We are also stren thenin re ional and lobal networks that seek the welfare of refu ees. Several of our staff serve in unpaid leadership roles with World Evan elical Alliance, the Global Diaspora Network of the Lausanne Movement and the Refu ee Hi hway Partnership. 9 When fi h n erupted in her homeland, a rela ve scooped up Mama Fartun s youn children and fled to Kenya for sa ey. She thou ht Mama Fartun had been killed. She and the children were later rese led to the USA. Nearly 20 years later, her children learned that their mother had survived and is now a refu ee in Kenya. We hope to see them reunited a ain one day and are workin with Mama Fartun (in Kenya) and her children (in the USA) to that end. If everythin oes smoothly, it could happen in Photo: Mama Fartun in Kakuma refu ee camp

We are helpin asylum seekers and refu ees survive and recover from forced displacement in Italy. We are doin this by providin leadership and consul n for the Il So iorno refu ee welcome center in Rome. We offer our ministry exper se to help churches en a e in ways that help refu ees recover from the trauma of displacement and inte rate into society. Photo: Italian lessons with asylum seekers in Rome
We are seekin the welfare of asylum seekers to ether with the church in northern France. With few op ons for shelter, food, water and medical care, thousands of desperate people sleep in open fields and vacant buildin s as they cross this part of Europe in search of refu e. They hun er for both food and a welcomin community. We are helpin churches show up in life- ivin ways on their journey. Photo: Walkin throu h a makeshi camp in France with a refu ee boy
We are assis n refu ees as they rebuild their lives in ways that restore a sense of peace and safety and that facilitate inte ra on. The crossin s of the Sahara and Mediterranean are behind them, but the trauma lin ers and daily life remains filled with challen es and loneliness. Recovery happens one life at a me - so we walk alon side of our friends lookin for ways to help them find their feet and succeed in their new world. A shared meal, a listenin ear, a word of encoura ement, a me of prayer, networkin with local services and En lish lessons are some of the ways we are present in their lives. Photo: Standin to ether rememberin the journey
Althou h rarely acknowled ed, refu ee churches play an important role in helpin people survive and recover from forced displacement. As communi es of faith, they help people find meanin in loss and sufferin. They transcend their circumstances in worship to ether. Hope is stren thened as they remember that God hears our cries and that he has promised to always be with us. They work relessly to further the kin dom of God amon their fellow refu ees and in their surroundin host community. It is a joy and privile e for us to partner with our uprooted brothers and sisters. Photo: A Sudanese church service in Kakuma refu ee camp, Kenya
We are partnerin with churches in Kakuma refu ee camp as they help people survive and recover from forced displacement. We are helpin them build their Interdenomina onal School for Mission and providin theolo ical and trauma care trainin. We assist them with their annual refu ee youth camp. We are providin them with Bibles in diverse lan ua es. We are also providin shelter and assis n with an income enera n project in a nearby IDP camp. Photo: A refu ee pastor s wife and baby in Kakuma refu ee camp
We are partnerin with churches in Dzaleka refu ee camp as they help their fellow refu ees survive and recover from forced displacement. We break their isola on by visi n them twice per year to offer encoura ement and support. Refu ee church leaders o en consult with us as they navi ate many hardships, includin hun er, hopelessness and conflict within the camp. These shepherds carry a heavy and difficult burden as they pastor trauma zed people who have li le hope of ever leavin the camp. Photo: Children in Dzaleka refu ee camp

We are helpin refu ees recover from displacement and rebuild their lives in Northern Colorado. To ether with local churches, we offer our new nei hbors a welcomin community alon with prac cal help. We raise awareness amon churches and in the reater community concernin the challen es that refu ees face and the blessin s that they brin. We support churches with a burden to welcome refu ees into our community in ways that demonstrate the love of God. We come alon side and support efforts in the refu ee community, makin connec ons between people and resources, and crea n collabora ve solu ons in the on oin process of recovery from forced displacement. Photo: Sharin family, home and kitchen with new nei hbors
We are immersed in the communi es of rese led refu ees that call Clarkston, Geor ia, their home. The crux of our ministry is hospitality throu h which isola on is broken and the love of Jesus is expressed. Our presence here is shepherd-like. To ether with brothers and sisters from surroundin churches, we care for the sick, tutor kids, mentor teens, navi ate confusin overnmental systems, celebrate milestones - and some mes just sit and talk over a cup of tea. We re thankful to our church partners who have welcomed refu ee youth into their pro rams, camps and special events. Photo: Takin refu ee youth out for some fun to ether

We have developed a ministry trainin desi ned to help churches and like-minded a encies develop well-informed strate ies to help people survive and recover from forced displacement. We ve recently provided trainin and consul n in Africa, Canada, Europe, Turkey and the US. Our experienced team is increasin ly sou ht out to speak at forums and atherin s brin in academics and prac cioners to ether to explore how the mission of the church intersects with the lobal refu ee crisis.
