It was stated, that these houses belonged to ISIL. Destruction of buildings and infrastructure not on the scale like e.g.in Bartalla and Qara Qosh (Hamdanya). KI complained that many NGOs are visiting the villages for assessment, but do not follow up with responding to the needs. IDPs plan to return to their places of origin as soon as these are safe and secure. Daily newly arrivals from Mosul City. IPD movements were observed. 4 Some families found shelter in the old mosque and live in very bad conditions (in need of Sealing Off, winterization, Basic NFI, clothes, rehabilitation of, food, health services). Al Khidir (Nimrud) N E Host community: 900 HH IDP: 500 HH IDP HH originate from Mosul city and villages close to Al Khidir. Most of them live in houses with their relatives. Some families live in abandoned (ex ISIL) houses. Movements by foot and private vehicles. Movements are observed during the morning (as people seemingly can only escape during the night). In the afternoon the streets and check points are empty. Newly arrivals have nothing more than their clothes as they had to flee Mosul by night to escape from ISIL held neighborhoods. The health situation in Nimrud is worrying. No PCH or doctor is available in the villages. Mukhtars of the villages confirm that others NGOs (names were not remembered or reported to the assessment team) have distributed food and NFI. The

6 complaint was raises that the support dis not enough to serve all HH in need, which leads to frustrations within the community. It was reported that corruption (diversion of items to military actor) was observed during distributions where Hashid al Shaabi was in charge of securing the site. Kahariz N E HH community: 100 HH IDP: 100 HH approx. 5 families live in 1 shelter/house one market in the village water supply is not sufficient in regards with the current needs and the water quality is reportedly not good one NGO supports the village with primary school is operational teaching materials and school equipment are available, but not enough latrines of the schools are in good conditions ICRC and another NGOS has distributed food and NFI (blankets, kitchen kits) kerosene, clothes, shoes, blankets, mattresses, and food Further findings, comments Khariz IDPs continuously flee from Mosul and the village is expecting more in the coming days. There is no space in the houses anymore to accommodate more people. IDP report that they do not want to go to the camps due to the fear of not having any freedom of movement and not being allowed to return. The majority of IDPs have walked from Mosul to the village. Some of the IDPs do not have any identification documents with them. Some houses are not inhabited anymore, as ISIL dug tunnels in the houses. The mukhtar reports that some IDPs are in a better situation compared to host community. Children of both local and IDP families do not have enough clothes and shoes to attend school. Some villagers are in need of medication, but cannot afford it. FG reports that the village is cleared of IEDs and mines. FG reports concern of child marriages.

Some IDPs have the intention to return to their homes, but are not allowed by military actors. No health centre available. Medical support is needed (also psychological support). Some houses have leaking ceilings. In earlier distributions, some HH received goods twice while others have not received any support. Mukhtars request to include the host community in distributions. In Al Thibanya it was mentioned, that tent are needed for newly arrivals, as the houses are full. The school is functioning but the majority of students are males, females stay indoors for unknown reasons. Children s psychology is heavily influenced by 2 years of ISIL rule Some families cannot afford suitable clothes for their kids, as the school requires some specific clothing. Both villages were retaken two months ago. 3 houses were damaged during the battle as well as the school building. The school is partially damaged but operational. There are more than 40 orphans in Sayid Ahmad village.
