25 INNOVATION Nurse Practitioner Response Unit (NPRU) Purpose: A one-year pilot study Staffed by a Nurse Practitioner and a FF/PM EMS Super-Users & patients with long term health needs. Provide a rapid assessment for a treat and release in the field In service 4 Days a week, 10 hours a day Activated in January 2016 Requesting 3 more next fiscal year

26 INNOVATION Fast Response Vehicle (FRV) Fills void in areas with extended response times Two Units in service now (Downtown and Valley) Averaging 1 incident per hour In service 4 Days a week, 10 hours a day Staffed with two Medics The FRV is a quad-cab pickup truck/brush patrol carries 300 gallons and equipment enabling members to provide advanced life support (ALS) care to time-critical patients. Carries all equipment of a Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) or ALS assessment unit.

27 INNOVATION LAFD SOBER Vehicle CONCEPT: Homelessness is a growing issue for the City of Los Angeles LAFD would partner with the Department of Health Services Vehicle Staffed by a Firefighter/Paramedic and a Social Worker Transport to a Sobering Center staffed by a mid-level provider (nurse practitioner) Submitted Request for an Innovation Grant
