Charles H. Kuck Installed as 2008-2009 President of AILA June 26, 2008 202-507-7649 today installed Charles ( Chuck ) Kuck as the President of AILA for the 2008-2009 term. Mr. Kuck, an immigration lawyer and expert from Atlanta, GA, was installed as the President of AILA during sessions of the association s 52nd Annual Conference being held in Vancouver, British Columbia. Mr. Kuck is managing partner of the Atlanta firm of Kuck Casablanca LLC The Immigration Law Firm, and manages its nationwide immigration practice. He focuses his practice on U.S. immigration and nationality law and international migration matters, including assisting employers and employees with business and professional visas, labor certifications, immigrant visas, consular representation, and citizenship matters for foreign executives, managers, professionals, and lesser skilled workers. His major clients include technology firms, manufacturers, multinational corporations and individual investors and entrepreneurs, as well as individual immigrants and asylum seekers. Previously, Mr. Kuck served as the President-Elect of AILA for the 2007-2008 term, and for three years he has served on the AILA Board of Governors as one of 21 elected He also served for two years as chair of the AILA Atlanta Chapter and for one year as chair of the AILA Young Lawyers Division. Among other AILA assignments, Mr. Kuck has served as chair of AILA s USCIS Headquarters Liaison Committee and chair of AILA s Consumer Protection Committee. He also served for seven years on the board of directors of the Latin American Association, a CBO in Atlanta. He is the editor-in-chief of AILA s Immigration Litigation Toolbox and he currently teaches immigration law as an adjunct professor at the University of Georgia. Mr. Kuck has testified before Congress numerous times on immigration issues, and, in 1999, he was awarded AILA s Joseph F. Minsky Young Lawyer Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Practice of Immigration Law. In 2000, he was awarded the Benjamin Landey Catholic Social Services Pro Bono Award. Mr. Kuck is listed in Chamber s Global Best Lawyers for Business, and in Who s Who of International Corporate Immigration Attorneys. In 2006, Mr. Kuck was named a Georgia Super Lawyer in the field of immigration law by Atlanta Magazine. A popular speaker, Mr. Kuck has spoken at various legal, industry, business, and civic organizations on a broad range of immigration topics. He is frequently quoted in the press, and has appeared on CBS, FoxNews, CNN, MSNBC,

A dedicated public servant and strong proponent of volunteer and pro bono activities, Mr. Kuck took his installation as an opportunity to issue a call to action to his fellow AILA members, saying, We have a responsibility to give back to our communities, to speak out for immigration reform and to defend the constitutional rights of all people.

Bernard Wolfsdorf Installed as President-Elect of AILA June 26, 2008 202-507-7649 today appointed Bernard P. Wolfsdorf of Los Angeles, California as the association s National President-Elect for the 2008-2009 term. Mr. Wolfsdorf, an immigration expert and attorney with Wolfsdorf Immigration Law Group, was appointed during sessions of AILA s 52nd Annual Conference being held in Vancouver, British Columbia. Mr. Wolfsdorf is the founding partner of the Wolfsdorf Immigration Law Group, one of the largest immigration firms in the United States with offices in Santa Monica and New York. Mr. Wolfsdorf is a California State Bar certified Specialist in Immigration and Nationality Law and is listed in Martindale Hubbell s Preeminent Specialist Directory with the highest possible rating in ethics and competence. Leopold of Cleveland, Ohio, as the association s National First Vice President during sessions of AILA s 52 nd Annual Conference being held in Vancouver, British Columbia. Mr. Leopold is principal of David Wolfe Leopold & Associates in Cleveland, Ohio. He also serves as an adjunct professor of immigration law at the Case Western Reserve and Cleveland State Universities schools of law. He has received Martindale-Hubbell s highest AV rating, is listed in Best Lawyers in America, and has been named an Ohio Super Lawyer. Mr. Leopold has served in several AILA positions over the years, including: director, AILA Board of Governors (2003 05); chair, ICE Liaison Committee, receiving a Presidential Commendation (2003 04); member, General Counsel Liaison Committee (2004 05); chair, Due Process Committee (2002 03); and Ohio Chapter chair (2001 03). Eleanor Pelta Named Second Vice President of AILA June 27, 2008 202-507-7649 today installed Eleanor Pelta of Washington, D.C., as the association s National Second Vice President. The installment took place during sessions of AILA s 52nd Annual Conference being held in Vancouver, British Columbia. Ms. Pelta is a partner in the labor and employment law practice of Morgan Lewis & Bockius, located in Washington, D.C. She is the managing director of the firm s national immigration practice, which focuses on assisting corporate clients in the management of large-scale global immigration programs, immigration policies and procedures, as well as all aspects of immigration compliance. Ms. Pelta was named one of the leading U.S. immigration lawyers by Chambers USA and Chambers Global and is listed in Best Lawyers in America. The Legal Times named Ms. Pelta one of the "Top 10 Immigration Lawyers in D.C." in 2006. For the past several years, Ms. Pelta has served AILA in a number of different roles, including: National Treasurer, 2007-2008; chair, USCIS Liaison Committee; chair, DOL Liaison Committee; and chair of the AILA Annual Conference Planning Committee in 2004. She has been an American Immigration Law Foundation (AILF) trustee for several years, and has been an enthusiastic member of the AILF Curriculum Center Committee. Ms. Pelta also is active in Holocaust education and remembrance.

Laura Lichter Installed as New National Treasurer of AILA June 27, 2008 202-507-7649 today appointed Laura Lichter, an immigration attorney and expert from Denver, CO, as the association s new National Treasurer. The appointment took place during sessions of AILA s 52nd Annual Conference being held in Vancouver, British Columbia. Ms. Lichter s Denver-based practice emphasizes representation of removable aliens, contested family and naturalization applications, administrative appeals, and related Federal litigation. A nationally-recognized expert and mentor, Ms. Lichter is also a well-respected author and lecturer. Her commitment to community outreach, education, and access to counsel has been demonstrated by numerous projects, initiatives and pro bono cases over the years. An elected Director of the Board of Governors and former Chapter Chair, Ms. Lichter previously chaired the EOIR Liaison Committee and now chairs AILA s ICE Liaison. Ms. Lichter graduated cum laude from Swarthmore College and earned her JD at the University of Colorado.

AILA Names Douglas Stump as New National Secretary June 27, 2008 202-507-7653 today appointed T. Douglas Stump, an immigration attorney from Oklahoma City, OK as the association s new National Secretary. The appointment took place during sessions of AILA s 52nd Annual Conference being held in Vancouver, British Columbia. For over 25 years, Mr. Stump has been an attorney, practicing immigration law exclusively, and maintaining offices in both Tulsa and Oklahoma City. He focuses his practice on employment-based immigration law, complex deportation, federal court litigation and family immigration matters. A nationally recognized attorney, Mr. Stump has been listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers since 1996, and is listed in Best Lawyers in America for immigration law. Mr. Stump was recently recognized in Oklahoma Magazine as one of the Top 50 Super Lawyers in Oklahoma, and has been afforded an AV Rating by the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory.
