He received first place in the Older Class of Cars and "Best of Show in Stock Fords". August 12-Driving their Model A s in the Otoe County Fair Parade were Loren & Valda Davidson, Bob & Judy Callaway, Gayle Hanshaw, Lumir Vajgrt, Dean Mays and Dick & Jerry Waechter. August 16-Members at the Gramercy Hill Car Display were Dick & Jerry Waechter, Glen & Margaret Manske, Lumir Vajgrt, Helen & Leo Sougey, Valda & Loren Davidson, Harry & Laverne Johnston, Charlie Cummings, Bill & Linda Buckley, and Gayle Hanshaw. Glen and Izzy received a $50 award. Congratulations.

August 2, 2014 Cornhusker Model A Club Meeting Minutes The Cornhusker Model A Ford Club (CMAFC) was called to order by President Margaret Mays at 7:30 p.m. with 31 members and no guests present. To accommodate a family reunion group meeting in our regular meeting area at Fourth Presbyterian, we met in a smaller room. Bob and Marilyn Wagner were introduced as new members. They own a 1930 Town Car. Best wishes were extended to those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. Charlie Cummings made a motion seconded by Roberta Mittan that the minutes of the July 2014 meeting be approved as distributed via email and printed newsletters. Motion passed. Treasurer s Report Jenn Elliott Heetderks was absent so the report was presented by President Mays. Starting Checking Balance: $3,363.65 Ending Checking Balance: $3,300.17 Starting Savings Balance: $3,457.50 Ending Savings Balance: $3,457.61 ($.11 interest). Bills Submitted The following bills were submitted and a motion made by Bill Buckley, seconded by Jim Cook and approved to pay as presented: Margaret Mays - $11.77 for newsletters and Loren Davidson - $23.03 for postage stamps and stamped, pre-addressed envelopes used in soliciting ads for the newsletter. Dick Waechter also presented a deposit. Committee Reports Activities: Sharon Griess was absent due to illness. President Mays asked if anyone had signed up to bring treats in September. Jerry Waechter and Helen Sougey indicated they had volunteered. Margaret said she would provide an update in the newsletter. Parades & Tours: Parades & Tours: Dick Waechter told of upcoming events. ( A listing of events is found in another part of this newsletter. The file copy of the minutes contains the information provided in his report.) Dinner Tours: Darrell Best reported the August dinner run will be to China Buffet just north of O St. on 66 th. He said he was exploring a couple of possible new sites in Clatonia and Waverly. Sunshine: Helen Sougey reported she had sent a card to Sharon Griess after her recent hospitalization. Calling Committee: Laverne Johnston reported on calls to notify people of Sharon Griess s illness and hospitalization in Omaha. She also reported on a visit to Sharon who is now at Madonna in room 231. Members were encouraged to visit Sharon as she awaits an MRI on Aug. 13. Car Council Dick Waechter reported that members of the Car Council have not yet met with the new director of the Lancaster Co. Event Center to discuss the rate increases for the swap meet she has proposed. Membership: Dave Allder was absent. No report. General Interest: Judy Callaway was absent. Margaret Mays reported that Judy had something in mind for an upcoming meeting. Historian: Janet Beauvais was absent. Bernice Jeffries indicated Janet was busily involved with Czech Days and encouraged people to visit the display if they attend the Wilbur event. Tech Seminars: Leo Sougey reported that he had no dates set as yet. Ed Taylor indicated he would assist with that and also with information for the newsletter. Christmas Party: Jerry Waechter reported that Misty s had increased the price for our Christmas banquet by $5.00 for the meal we have had in the past due to an increase in meat prices. She reported that the CMAFC board had met earlier and voted to pay a portion of the increase. Members will be charged $27.50 and the club will pay the balance of the increase. Old Business Gayle Hanshaw reported on plans for a joint picnic with the Meadowlark Model A club from the Omaha area. After discussion of several options the group suggested that Gayle contact the Omaha group about a joint breakfast/ brunch or early picnic on Saturday, Sept. 13 at Mahoney Park. It was agreed that the socialization last year was a good experience and the setting was a good one. It was also a consensus of the group that if the Meadowlarks host the Regional Meet in 2017 some of our members would be willing to assist. New Business President Mays reported that Valerie Barton had contacted Margaret as a representative of CMAFC regarding a request for assistance in preparing her father s 1930 4 door Model A for sale. It has been in storage and needs a battery. Jim Cook and Ed Taylor volunteer to contact the Barton family. Gayle Hanshaw spoke about the Mustang Celebration at Pinnacle Arena and said that he is volunteering. The fee for showing a car is $20.00 and $65.00 to be judged. Car Pool Winner: Leo Sougey Adjournment Meeting ended at 8:10 p.m. following a motion made by Bill Buckley, seconded by Jim Cook and passed. Wilber Czech Days & Parade Attending this years Czech Days Celebration in Wilber were Dick & Jerry Waechter, Loren & Valda Davidson, Bill & Linda Buckley, Harv & Judy Jecha, Laverne & Harry Johnston, Dean & Margaret Mays, Gayle & Nancy Hanshaw, Janet Beauvais, Bernice Jeffries and Roberta Mittan. Janet had a wonderful display focusing on Czech heritage which included Ted s accordion collection.

Model A s in Amana From your President.. Dean & I had a great time over in Amana, IA at Model A Day. Despite the threat of rain for the weekend, 82 Model A s lined the street. The Model A gods were shining down on us, and it never did rain. This event, plus the state fair, interfered with us attending several Club events. Thank you to those who provided me with information for the newsletter. Events are winding down for the year with two or three remaining, our last being the Christmas Party. Two car shows took place on Sunday, August 24th. Model A s participating in Wessel s Living History Farm, Rev Up the Engines, were Dick & Jerry Waechter and Gayle & Nancy Hanshaw. Staying closer to home and attending the Calvary Church Car Show were Bob & Judy Callaway, Glen Manske, Charlie Cummings, and Darrell & Donna Best. Mike and Molly Dudley have moved to McPherson, KS where Mike accepted an offer to teach automotive upholstery and trim at McPherson College. Mike says it is his dream job and they were excited to move but sad to leave Nebraska, They hope to be back for our Christmas party in December. Best wishes as he starts his new job.
