Tips for Legislative Visits 11 Be on time, flexible and brief Meetings should be 15-20 minutes Expect to wait in a small area or in the hallway Skim each legislator s bio in advance of your visit. Take note of which committees the legislator sits on. You can find that information for House members here: http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/home/member_ information/mbrlist.cfm?body=h and for Senators here: http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/home/member_ information/mbrlist.cfm?body=s

Tips for Legislative Visits Be prepared to meet with staff instead of the legislator, even if you were previously told the legislator would attend. Select a spokesperson and organize your thoughts ahead of time with others who are attending Select a note taker who is responsible for completing the evaluation sheet Have your handouts and leave behinds ready, along with information from your IU with your contact information on them Follow up with a thank you note within a week 12
