May 217 SWEEPS REPORT ATLANTA June 1, 217 CHANNEL 2 WSB-TV, Atlanta s #1 TV Station Wins May Sweeps with 58% of News Audience Channel 2 WSB-TV dominated the viewing in the Atlanta market throughout the day, continuing its long run as the #1 local news. Channel 2 Action News won every newscast, often drawing more audience than the combined competition. All together the station s newscasts attracted 58% of the local news audience over the sweeps. May 217 SWEEPS REPORT BY THE NUMBERS More than half of Atlanta local morning news viewers wake up to Channel 2 Action News This Morning from 4:3-7 a.m. WSB-TV more than doubled the viewers of second place WAGA. Good Morning America once again ranked as Atlanta s #1 morning news/entertainment program. It out-delivered NBC s Today Show by 144% while it beat WAGA s Good Day Atlanta by 29%. Channel 2 Action News at Noon delivered 71% more viewers than #2 WAGA and out-delivered the competition combined by 2%. In the Early Evening News, Channel 2 Action News continued to dominate the other local news stations. At 4 p.m., Channel 2 Action News ranked four times higher than WGCL, the CBS Affiliate. At 5 p.m., Channel 2 Action News ranked #1 in May. At 6 p.m., Channel 2 Action News grew by 11% year-over-year and drew 5% more audience than second place WAGA.
May 217 SWEEPS REPORT BY THE NUMBERS ABC s World News Tonight with David Muir at 7 p.m. grew by 33% over May 216 and ranked as the #1 rated weekday program on any local affiliate at any time period. It beat NBC and CBS national news combined by almost three times. ABC World News out ranked NBC Nightly News by 22% and was 16 times greater than CBS Evening News. At 7:3 p.m., ET drew 36% more audience than Jeopardy and 12% more than TMZ. The Channel 2 Action News Nightbeat won the 11 p.m. news by 33% over the second ranked station, Monday-Friday. Jimmy Kimmel Live continued its winning string beating the Late Night combined competition with 5% more viewers. Kimmel attained 2% more viewers than both The Tonight Show on NBC, and, The Late Show on CBS. The following programs also ranked #1 on WSB-TV: Live with Kelly & Ryan, The View, The Chew, General Hospital and Right this Minute. Channel 2 Action News Saturday Morning, 6-9 a.m. outdistanced #2 WAGA by 15% and beat the combined competition by 3%. Channel 2 Action News Sunday Morning, 6-8 a.m. and 9-11 a.m. drew 2% more audience than second place WAGA and beat the competition combined by 5%.
