Thursday 08/03/2018 PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEES 09:00-12:30 Brussels, Jòzsef Antall, 2Q2 Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality International Women's Day (IWD) - see Special events SPECIAL EVENTS 09:00-12:30 Brussels, Jòzsef Antall, 2Q2 International Women's Day (IWD) On 8 March 2018, FEMM, in collaboration with the Directorate for Relations with National Parliaments, the Committee on Women's Rights will organize an Inter-parliamentary Committee Meeting on "Empowering women and girls in media and ICTs: key for the future". The event will take place in the European Parliament in Brussels, from 09.00 to 12.30. The topic chosen this year retains global importance and is one that allows for in-depth examination. Media has the capacity to influence public opinion and frame information. At the same time, Information and communication technologies (ICTs) permeate all levels and areas of society. Both media and ICTs therefore have considerable potential in the promotion of women's empowerment. This prominent event will thus provide a global forum for an exchange of experiences and best practices in these areas.
