The Elusive Enemy Gypsy/Traveler Crime and the Elderly Every major metropolitan area in North America has a varied concentration of criminal self-proclaimed gypsies. The criminal Gypsies and Travelers select seniors as victims a staggering 92% of the time. Their diverse crimes present more than a significant challenge to law enforcement nationwide. We must protect our seniors. The National Association of Bunco Investigators (NABI), in association with the Salt Lake County Sheriff s Office, is presenting an insightful two (2) day seminar on Criminal Gypsies/Travelers and the Elderly. NABI is dedicated to assisting law enforcement and other first responders through the education and training of officers, detectives, investigators, APS workers, Ombudsman and prosecutors. Con games and scams cost the citizens of this country, an amazing $20 billion dollars every year and these transient career criminals are believed to be responsible for an overwhelming number of these crimes. NABI has developed a database with more than 15,000 entries of suspects and it continues to be a source for all law enforcement investigators in the ongoing battle with these professional criminals. NABI s main goal is to assist in the identification, apprehension and prosecution of these very types of con artists. The 2 day course topics will include: An in depth look at: Gypsy and Traveler Crime Groups as Non-Traditional Organized Crime Organizations, Identification of the Groups, An Overview of the Crimes Committed, the Elderly as Victims, Resources Available to You, Dealing With Impediments to Your Investigation and Keys to an Effective Prosecution. Training Site: Salt Lake County Sheriff s Office 3365 S. 900 West Salt Lake City, Utah 84119 Date/Time: Monday/Tuesday March 22-23, 2010 0800-1630 hrs. Cost: $140.00/ person To register, call: Jon Grow at NABI 410-752-8150 Registration forms are available online at our website: www.nabihq.org For further information, contact: Jon Grow at: 410-752-8150 (All cancellations must be made by March 5, 2010 to be eligible for a refund)

THE ELUSIVE ENEMY GYPSY/TRAVELER CRIME AND THE ELDERLY If your department is experiencing, or has experienced, these kinds of problems in the past, then consider having some of your officers attend the two (2) day seminar given by The National Association of Bunco Investigators (NABI). Presented in conjunction with Salt Lake County Sheriff s Department, this two (2) day seminar will expose the crimes committed by these professional career criminals who plague society and prey on the most vulnerable of all groups - Senior Citizens. Police departments need to be pro-active in this area of law enforcement. The seminar will be given by NABI, one of the most knowledgeable and foremost trainers in this field. The presenters are Detective Toni Brown, Phoenix, Arizona Police Department, Inspector Greg Ovanessian, San Francisco, California Police Department, and Detective (Retired) Gary Nolte of the Skokie, Illinois Police Department. All these instructors are judicially qualified experts in this field, and have lectured across the nation for over 12 years. Topics will include: How to identify your specific group, the kinds of crimes committed, Eastern European Gypsies, The ROM, The Travelers, impediments to prosecution, and much more. For those traveling too far to commute and wishing to attend, The Country Inn and Suites is close to the training site and is offering a special rate of $69.00 + Tax for this 2 day seminar. It is located at 3422 S. Decker Lake Dr., West Valley City, Utah. This includes a continental breakfast on site and transportation to and from the seminar. This rate will apply for the Sunday and Monday night stays. Additional nights are available at a rate to be determined between you and the hotel staff. For reservations call 801-908-0311 and mention the Salt Lake County Sheriff s Training to obtain that rate. For more information call: Jon Grow at NABI in Maryland: 410-752-8150.
