President s Pen Deborah Casey Dear Members, WOW! I was blown away by all of the fabulous costumes and masks that everyone was wearing at the February luncheon! It was great to see everyone get into the "Fasching" spirit. The locale, food, and company made this another successful luncheon. Thank you, Rhonda Schaub and Pamela Shackelford! Our Parliamentarian, Polly Spiegel, is looking for WCSC members that are interested in holding one of the elected officer positions on our board for the upcoming year. If you would like to be President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Administrative Treasurer, Welfare Treasurer, or Secretary please contact Polly at, spiegs1968@yahoo.com. The slate of officers will be announced at the March luncheon, voting will be at the April luncheon (if needed), and the installation of officers at our May luncheon. Please mark your calendars for the Annual German- American & International Women s Club (GAIWC) Spring Bazaar that will be held on 16 March, at the Kurhaus Kolennade in Wiesbaden, beginning at 10. The GAIWC is asking for our support of this event in two ways. First, they are in need of gently used American brand name clothing that can be dropped off at their collection point. The collection point is open every Saturday from 10-12 and every Wednesday from 3-5. The location is Schwarzenbergstr. 7, Wiesbaden. And, second, they are in need of American baked goodies for their Cafeteria. The Germans are in love with our baked BOXED cakes and brownies! So don't go to a lot of trouble by making a cake or other goodie from scratch, just bake a boxed cake, brownie or other easy to bake goodie and donate it to this wonderful event. Our Honorary President, Dianne Crawford has graciously agreed to have the baked goodies dropped of at her home at Wuerttembergstr. #2, in Aukamm, from 10-1 on Friday 15 March. If you would prefer to drop them off while you are shopping at the GAIWC Spring Bazaar, please do so. The GAIWC asks that all goodies be in disposable containers. Congratulations to our "Fabulous" February Volunteers of the Month: Jessica Hickenbottom, Ransom Schwerzler, Wendy Sledd and Jaime Waterbury! Lastly, do not forget to join our Activities Chairs, Danielle & Deena, in the upcoming March activities that they have planned. I have already signed up to join in just about all of the activities planned for March, including the trip to Poland! I do not care what anyone says, you can never have too much Polish pottery! Warm Regards, Deborah 2
