Meeting No 1854 Tuesday 02 June 2015 RI President Gary CK Huang District Governor Charlie Speirs Assistant Governor John Caruana Club President Patricia Walton PRESIDENT S COLUMN Last Tuesday s meeting our guest speaker was Susan Scott from Vinnies in Sale. Susan gave a very informative talk about the background of Vinnies and how it all started. Susan said they are very thankful for all the donations they receive and would appreciate more donations to come in. The needs of the clientele are great in this community and many other communities. Susan would be glad to answer any questions that you might have. She can be contacted at 5144 4183 and the location of Vinnies in Sale is 192-194 York Street. Stuart Quinn and I bussed the RYPEN candidates to Forest Edge this past Friday. Wally and I drove down early on Sunday morning to watch the proceedings and the awards given out. Our candidates did extremely well. We had five candidates, four from Gippsland Grammar and one from Sale Junior College. The Chairman Tim Mepstead stated this RYPEN group was one of the best ones they have ever had. All the candidates that were in all our Rotary Youth Programs this year will be speaking at Dellbridge Hall for our Youth Night on Wednesday June 10, 2015. There will be further details to follow. THERE ARE STILL SOME DIRECTORS REPORTS THAT I HAVE NOT RECIEIVED YET FOR THE ANNUAL REPORT. ROTARY BOWELSCAN SAVES LIVES. Good evening all, Below are photos that have been taken by our Media Liaison Officer to be published on the Internet. I will explain each photo. Myself (in front) with one of our Medical Scientist testing kits we do separately (at a cost) for the Metro Melbourne Clubs. A sight of concentration - testing the kits A bird s eye view of testing

The lights on the tables are for better viewing (the hall lights are too high and were casting shadows over the kits). Our other Medical Scientist (centre) checking a positive result. The TV advertising has proved to be very successful. This time of the year it is full one, on Monday and Wednesday nights we spend hours taking the kits out of their envelopes, this allows us a head start for testing on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. We tested 4037 kits on Tuesday morning, that is a record for a session. On The Tuesday & Thursday morning our Testing Manager and myself arrive at 7.15 am to set up the hall, we then start opening the back of the kits ready for the testers who arrive around 8am.The testing Manager and yours truly finish at about 11.45 am. Because this is the final year of using this kit I have extended the program for an extra week in Geelong (with the approval of the pharmacies). If you want to extend your program please consult your pharmacy for approval, this is not a direction, it is entirely up to you. Keep sending in your kits for testing. I hope you enjoy the photos.
