Please find below this message the section titled, Redesigning Elections Recommendations. Executive Summary National Task Force on Election Reform Redesigning Elections Recommendations Early Voting 29. That states modify current election law to allow early voting. Decisions regarding number of days and whether to include options for in-person or by mail early voting are best determined by each state. Vote By Mail

30. That state election officials and legislatures consider permitting certain types of elections to be conducted by mail. If states adopt by-mail elections they should look to the experiences of Oregon and Washington when developing laws for efficient and secure bymail elections. Permanent Absentee Voting 31. That states consider legislation offering voters the option of noexcuse, permanent absentee voting and develop adequate laws and regulations for its implementation. Election Day Universal Vote Centers 32. That states modify current election law to allow establishing vote centers. (See Appendices F and G) Poll Worker Recruitment and Retention 33. That states and local jurisdictions appropriate adequate monetary compensation for poll workers. 34. That states and local jurisdictions implement proven practices to encourage and promote participation of government workers, students, civic groups and corporations as poll workers. 44. That Congress authorize the use of federal employees to serve as poll workers. 45. That state and local jurisdictions implement supplemental training and recognition programs for poll workers.
