CLIMATE CHANGE:

THE SITUATION

In 2000, the world's nations agreed to eight millennium development goals - eight goals designed to end extreme poverty by 2025

Australia Austria Belgium Canada ad a Denmark Finland France Germany Iceland Ireland Italy Italy Japan Luxembourg Netherlands New Zealand Norway Portugal Spain New Zealand Portugal Luxembourg Netherlands Norway Spain Sweden Switzerland United Kingdom United States Sweden Switzerland United Kingdom United States As part of this, the world s 22 richest nations promised to give 0.7% of their gross national income in foreign aid each year......to date, only 5 have done so.

Every day, more than 20, 000 children die from preventable causes...... And 820 million people go to bed each night without having enough to eat.

72 million children get up in the morning without the chance to go to school, missing out on learning to read and write......but this has fallen from 120 million 20 years ago.

In 2005, 345,000 children died from just one disease measles......but this is a 60% reduction from 1999

We have the means and resources to end extreme poverty. We need to communicate clearly, simply and deeply to everyday people so they can journey with us to make this happen.

OUR VISION

Catalyse the movement to end extreme poverty

90 minute feature slideshow

Inspired by An Inconvenient Truth, The End of Poverty and The Bottom Billion, this presentation will be taken around the world to inspire people to act in new ways to end extreme poverty. The presentation will arm individuals with the tools, knowledge and inspiration to influence governments and take action.

It has to be simple yet sophisticated.

It needs to be accessible and yet scientific.

It needs to tell the story of poverty, as well as the personal stories.

It needs to speak to the cynic, inspiring them at the same time.

It needs to be shocking, compelling and demand action.

In each country, the Global Poverty Project will: Reach 5,000,000+ through media and publicity, raising awareness of extreme poverty Educate 20,000+ through presentations, deepening and reframing their understanding of extreme poverty Engage 5,000+ to take direct action on extreme poverty through action groups and partners

How is this achieved?

Employment of research team Establishment of a broad based advisory panel Partner with National Implementing Partners Engagement of leading production company
