Receive report from the Office of Emergency Services relating to the current weather predictions for the Bay Area. (Ivan Williams) (ID# 85131) Ivan Williams, Emergency Operational Area Council Liaison, Office of Emergency Services, provided a report relating to weather predictions, the drought situation, and weather changes over the past three months. Members discussed rainy weather impacts on roads and water levels in the reservoirs and creeks. In response to an inquiry by Member Davis, Mr. Williams stated that he will provide information regarding the "pineapple express" weather terminology. Member Khamis requested assistance in providing shelter for San Jose residents who were impacted by recent flood conditions. 8 RESULT: RECEIVED 9. Receive report from the Office of Emergency Services relating to the Winter 2017 severe weather events, County proclamation of a local emergency, California proclamation of a state of emergency, and a Federal disaster declaration. (Dana Reed, Director, OES) (ID# 85134) Dana Reed, Director of Emergency Management, Office of Emergency Services, narrated a presentation relating to the Office of Emergency Services response to recent storm conditions, including estimates regarding financial costs for4 damage mitigataion, the process for declaration of an emergency, potential engineering solutions, debris removal, and notification of community members concerning hazardous situations. Member Khamis gave a presentation relating to flooding in San Jose and discussed the need for assistance to impacted residents. 9 RESULT: RECEIVED 10. Receive report from the Office of Emergency Services relating to Emergency Management Performance Grant Fiscal Year 2017 proposals. (Ivan Williams, Operational Area Council Liaison, Office of Emergency Services) (ID# 85136) Mr. Williams presented information relating to Emergency Management Performance Grant Fiscal Year 2017 proposals and briefly discussed the grant process and proposed projects. Member Khamis expressed concern relating to the grant selection process, and Chairperson Wasserman stated that the process was established several years ago and a review of the process could be undertaken. 10 RESULT: RECEIVED 11. Receive verbal updates, as applicable, from the Office of Emergency Services (OES) and Members of the Emergency Operational Area Council relating to any current or emergent emergency management issues.
