Ms. Tarr-Whelan is the former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, Deputy Assistant to President Jimmy Carter and named One of the 50 Most Powerful Women in Washington. She will explore how the current economic environment offers new opportunities for women to step up to leadership and bring more women in and up with them. She will also delve into how old ways of doing business are increasingly discredited and the need is apparent for different management styles based on partnerships, collaboration and consensus. The session will also cover how women s progress upward is stalled in the legal profession and across the board in government, business and the non-profit sector and provide steps that show how positive action is possible.
