Absorbing costs for absent guests however has become a financial burden. Effective immediately, all reservations must be cancelled two (2) business days prior to the event. Reservations that have been made and not honored, will be billed appropriately. EMMA S CORNER info@redhookchamber.org 845-758-0824 RED HOOK THEN AND NOW PROJECT Beginning November 13th, Emma Coon, Chamber Historian, and member Tom Sullivan of Orchard View Studio will be visiting various businesses in the Village for a project which will be a pictorial history of Red Hook Then and Now. They would like to feature photos of businesses from around the late 1800 s to the present day. They are both looking forward to this project. Their hope is that upon completion, it will become a keepsake. Please contact the Chamber if you would like them to visit your business. 845-758-0824 This is the time of year that thoughts about Thanksgiving and Christmas come to mind. Some of our local churches sponsor food pantries year round. Check with the churches on what is needed and when the pantry is available. With the rising costs of many items in this present economy, any help we can give to the pantries is appreciated. Some of our churches have mitten trees and gift trees as well. The gift tree is for a gift for a child. You buy the gift, and the church sees that a child gets it. As for our veterans, Castle Point Veteran s Hospital has a food pantry. Check on days and requirements for participation. It is well stocked year round. Many veteran organizations and other groups donate to that pantry. Do you know a shut - in? Let them know you care. Anything you do will be appreciated - even if its only a visit or a phone call. Emma

NEWS Page 6 Fundraiser for Children s Events at Cappuccino by Coppola s On Sunday October 19 th @ 4:00 PM, the Red Hook Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored a fundraiser for the various children s programs in Red Hook they support such as the Halloween Parade, WinterFest 2008, and The Spring Egg Roll. A good time was had by all with almost 60 people attending a concert by the Albany based rock-a-billy band, Rocky Velvet, with a buffet dinner served by Cappuccino by Coppola s. Melissa Ottman, who heads the Children s Events Committee with volunteers, Kathy Triebel, Kim Gomez, Ed Blundell and Karen Sipperley, was very pleased with the turnout and is thinking of having a similar fundraiser in February with a Sock Hop theme. Our support of Melissa and her committee is important as the Chamber needs to be a presence at all community events. With very little financial support, this committee puts on events the children of Red Hook will remember fondly. We appreciate all they do, and hope we will be able to support them in the future. The Children s Events Committee would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for their generous support of the Rocky Velvet fundraiser: The pictures left and below are of the Albany based rock-a-billy band, Rocky Velvet who provided the great entertainment for the evening.
