Highlights include: lobby and gardens of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels, art deco buildings along the Miracle Mile, the 1925 Central Library, Union Station and more. Lunch is on your own at Clifton s Cafeteria, an iconic landmark in downtown Los Angeles which has recently reopened after a $10 million renovation. Bring a bag lunch, if you wish. OLLI's LA Local History/Multi-Cultural AMTRAK Train Trip Wednesday May 18, 2016 8:45 am - 4 pm Cost: $22 train fare ONLY. Tickets will be provided to you by OLLI. Depart from Fullerton Amtrak Station. Park only in parking structures at the station. Limit: Min. 20 Max. 30 Registration starts 03/01/ 2016 Deadline date: 03/18/2016 NOTE: You must provide information and bring photo ID as described under Security below. The tour: You will see some interesting sites while on the train - the old ice house, dead man's curve, "train wash" etc. After arriving in Los Angeles, a docent will lead an overview of the area including museums of the heritages of different Los Angeles racial groups, background of racial tensions, and murals (Siqueiroas and others). Lunch is on your own with time to revisit some of the museums for more in-depth observations. Union Station: Congregate back at Union Station after lunch for a mini-tour and return to Fullerton's AMTRAC Station. SPECIAL FACTS *Extensive walking. Accessible except for Museum of Tolerance.
