During the March survey period, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News jumped 50% in its share of the Adult 25-54 audience from last year, driving its ranking from 4 th place to 1 st in this important demographic. With NCAA Men s Basketball Tournament moving some regularly scheduled newscasts, KIRO 7 delivered the major news of the day in the afternoon and primetime. KIRO 7 reporters crisscrossed the nation to make sure viewers were getting the facts first on major news stories. Travelling with the Gonzaga University Men s Basketball team to Pittsburgh, KIRO 7 journalists provided in-depth coverage as the Zags pursued the NCAA title. KIRO 7 was also the only local news organization to send a reporter to the U.S. military prison at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, where a local Joint Base Lewis-McChord soldier was being held on charges of killing Afghan civilians.
