Draft 5. Items for Consideration 5.1 Solar Panels Councillor Poetker advised the Municipality is looking into introducing solar panels on Municipal buildings. Meaford Museum is one of the buildings that was approved as a possible site for solar panels. Mr. Shepperd advised that the shingles need to be replaced before any panels are placed. 5.2 2017 Budget Councillor Poetker advised Council directed staff to keep the increase of taxes to 3% with focus on roads, bridges and facilities. The budget changes very little for the Museum as no capital projects are expected. One area that will change is programming as it will move to the Programming Coordinator out of the Parks & Recreation Department. The Advisory Committee was updated on technology that was purchased for recording interviews to share local history. 6. Staff Updates 6.1 John Muir Trail Signage Mr. Morgan provided an update on the cost of the project and funding through a community grant and Friends of John Muir. Seven signs will be installed including, two trail head signs (Bakeshop Bridge and 7th Line) and five pedestal signs (Purdy/Moore Mill at Bakeshop bridge, Trout Sawmill, Trout Cabin/Pleasant Valley Grist Mill, GBMP powerhouse site, GBMP dam site). The signs will be purchased from Grey Sauble Conservation Authority. The Advisory Committee viewed a mock trail sign that is bring worked on for final preparations. Discussion took place around the potential of building a parking lot off of Side Road 13. Meaford Museum Advisory Committee Minutes - September 28, 2016 Page 1 of 3 Page 4 of 6

Draft 6.2 Great Canadian Masters Cook Book Ms. Seeley provided an update on the finalized cookbook. Out of all of the submissions, Meaford Museum had the most artwork selected next to the ROM. Ms. Seeley introduced the Advisory Committee to Fran Wensley. She was one of the artists who was selected and featured on the front cover of the cookbook. Ms. Wensley provided an update of the opening ceremony for the cookbook she attended in Toronto. A few of the chefs were on hand and recreated their recipes from the book for everyone to taste. She mentioned that there will be media coverage from CTV and there is already talk of a 2nd edition. She was inspired by the whole process, and was honored to represent the Meaford Museum. In October, Ms. Seeley is hoping to plan an event at Meaford Hall in celebration of the cookbook and the local artists. 6.3 Spume Donations The daughter of one of the first captains of the Spume had approached the Museum Services Coordinator about donating items, including a galley window, paperwork and doors. Ms. Seeley will be redesigning the Harbour room to include the new donation. Mr. Shepperd recently donated a clock from the spume that will also be on display. 7. Round Table Discussion Mr. Tippin asked if the Museum has people asking about the John Muir Trail. Ms. Seeley advised the Committee that in the past the Museum has provided guided tours on the trail. There is also a list of people from the United States who would like to be contacted when the next tour takes place. 8. Next Meeting Date October 26, 2016 9. Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 4:20pm. Meaford Museum Advisory Committee Minutes - September 28, 2016 Page 2 of 3 Page 5 of 6
