BUDGET CERTIFICATION MEETING VOLUME XXXII, PAGE 191 BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULAR MEETING Minutes of the Certification Meeting of the Board of Education of the Elmont Union Free School District, Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, New York, held at the Elmont Road School on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. The purpose of the meeting was to certify the vote on the Elmont Union Free School District Budget, the Sewanhaka Central High School District Budget and the Elmont Public Library Budget. The Board also certified the vote on the School Board Candidates and Library Board Candidates. Voting was held at all seven election districts on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. He led the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Jaime welcomed everyone. PUBLIC SESSION PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Mr. Jaime turned the meeting over to Mr. Nugent for the results of the election. RESULTS OF THE ELECTION The election was held from 6 AM to 9 PM tonight. The District Clerk and I can attest to the fact that the election was conducted in accordance with the applicable statutes of the State of New York. There are no discrepancies in the proceedings except that one of the machines at the Dutch Broadway School had to be closed because one counter failed to show the votes RESULTS OF ELECTION

However, when we checked on the protective counter, those votes that were cast between the time the counter stopped and the machine was taken out of use, was counted in the total. At the Stewart Manor School, the machine jammed after 8 pm this evening. The chair had voters vote by paper ballot and we were able to repair the machine. The machine was put into use at 8:45 PM for the rest of the evening. Mr. Nugent then presented the results of the vote. PROPOSTION #1- ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BUDGET 2013-2014 PROPOSITION #1 Total Number of Votes in FAVOR of Proposition #1-1,311 Total Number of Votes AGAINST Proposition #1-648 We declare that proposition passed. PROPOSTION #2- SEWANHAKA CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL BUDGET 2013-2014 PROPOSITION #2 Total Number of Votes in FAVOR of Proposition #2-1,173 Total Number of Votes AGAINST Proposition #2-584 That budget leaves Elmont with a substantial plurality but is subject to the vote in three other component districts. PROPOSTION #3- ELMONT PUBLIC LIBRARY BUDGET 2013--2014 PROPOSITION #3 Total Number of Votes in FAVOR of Proposition #3-1,282 Total Number of Votes AGAINST Proposition #3-482 We declare that proposition passed. The Elementary School Budget Passed by 663 votes. In Elmont, the Sewanhaka Central High School Budget Passed by 589 votes. The Elmont Public Library Budget Passed by 800 votes.
BUDGET CERTIFICATION MEETING VOLUME XXXII, PAGE 193 The Number of Names on the Poll List -2025 Total Number of Absentee Voters -112 Total Number of Voters -2137 SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATES SCHOOL BOARD For the seat formerly held by Lorraine Ferrigno Tameka Battle Burkett received 699 votes. Jason Smith received 186 votes. Lorraine Ferrigno received 649 votes. Tameka Battle-Burkett was declared elected. Michael A, Jaime ran unopposed for the seat formerly held by Michael A. Jaime. Michael A. Jaime received 990 votes. NEXT MEETING Michael A. Jaime was declared elected. Jon Johnson, Sr. ran unopposed for the seat formerly held by Jon Johnson, Sr. Jon Johnson, Sr. received 900 votes. ADJOURNMENT Jon Johnson, Sr. was declared elected. LIBRARY BOARD CANDIDATES Tammie Williams ran unopposed for the seat formerly held by Maria Gregori. LIBRARY BOARD Tammie Williams received 895 votes. Tammie Williams was declared elected.
BUDGET CERTIFICATION MEETING VOLUME XXXII, PAGE 194 Gina Burnett ran unopposed for the seat formerly held by Kathleen Harsch. Gina Burnett received 935 votes. LIBRARY BOARD Gina Burnett was declared elected. There are 17 votes that were cast that are not counted. However, since the plurality of each of the budgets and the one contested seat exceeds the 17 we can make the declarations we just made. Congratulations to Ms. Battle-Burkett, Mr. Jaime, Mr. Johnson, Ms. Burnett and Ms. Williams. I would like to publically thank Ms. Lorraine Ferrigno for the exceedingly hard and excellent service that she did. I ask for a motion to certify the vote. CERTIFICATION OF ELECTION RESULTS CERTIFICATION OF ELECTION RESULTS On a motion by Mr. Emeagwali, seconded by Mr. Johnson, the Board moved to accept and certify the results of the election held today, May 21, 2013, in the Elmont Union Free School District. Vote on certifying the results of the election: Yes - 7 No - 0 Abstain - 0 Motion Carried Unanimously This concluded the report of the Attorney. SUPERINTENDENT S REMARKS SUPERINTENDENT S REMARKS Mr. Harper congratulated everyone. This is a team effort. I want to thank Mr. DeBartolo, who worked diligently to get the budget out in the public. Mr. Harper introduced Dr. Carla Gutman, the new Assistant to the Director of Business, replacing Mr. Joseph Guadagno. Welcome Dr. Gutman. Mrs. Ferrigno has been a tireless worker for this community. She was on the original committee that hired me. Mr. Harper stated I have deep feelings for you and your service to the District. You will be sorely missed but we will continue to keep you within the loop. We wish you well.

BOARD PRESIDENT S REMARKS BOARD PRESIDENT S REMARKS Mr. Jaime thanked Ms. Ferrigno for her length of service on the Board. He expressed congratulations to Lorraine for her years of service to the community. Mr. Jaime thanked all the Board Members for surviving another budget cycle, stating I look forward to starting on next year s budget. Mr. Jaime thanked Mr. DeBartolo, the PTA s, the Community and entire Staff for their hard work and dedication. Mr. Jaime congratulated Ms. Battle-Burkett, Ms. Burnett and Ms. Williams. NEXT MEETING: NEXT MEETING Mr. Jaime announced that the next Regular Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Dutch Broadway School, at 7:30 PM.
