Jan. 22nd Hero s / Gambinos East Military Ave., Fremont 6:00 Supper 7:00 Meeting PARC Begins 2015 With Two New Officers The first PARC Meeting of 2015 is Thursday, January 22nd at 6 p.m. for supper and meeting at 7 p.m. This is a half hour earlier than previous meetings. Dan Steinhoff W7UP will be taking over the reins of president and Wes Crisman KD0PGV is the new vice president. Dave Theophilis W0NRW will remain as secretary and Sharon Martens KB0TVB stays as Treasurer. It is also time to pay your 2015 Dues. Its $10 per member and an additional $3 for another family member. Misuse Of Local Repeaters Recently there have been some issues with the misuse of repeaters in the Omaha area and other repeaters nearby. Until now there was some confusion regarding who or what was causing it but recent actions have been taken by the repeater owners. I assume some of this information will make it's way around but I hope to address it in detail at the next PARC meeting. In the mean time please report any misuse of the 146.67 or 145.265 repeaters to me or Jarad KD0EFC. I can be reached at my email address below. Page 2 Pioneer Amateur Radio Club Minutes for November 20, 2014 The Pioneer Amateur Radio Club Meeting for November was called to order at 730 PM by President Darlene Hoffman, N0LOP. 19 people were present. Everyone introduced themselves. MINUTES and TREASURER S REPORT: The October Minutes and November Treasurer's Report were approved as printed in the November. MOTION to Pay Bills: No bills were submitted. HOSPITALITY: Sharon Martens, KB0TVB sent a card around to be signed for Dick Newsome, N0HXL, who had a heart procedure. EDUCATION: Jane Mehaffey, KB0ZUN had an inquiry about amateur radio. She will get an email address for Dave Theophilus, W0NRW. FIELD DAY: June 27-28, 2015. FLEA MARKET: July 11, 2015 in North Bend. PICNIC: September 27, 2015. CHRISTMAS PARTY: A sign-up sheet was passed around for the December 13 party at the Office Bar & Grill in Hooper. NET Manager: Mel Cunningham, K0VLA passed around sign-up sheets for Net Control duties and thanked everybody. ARES: Dave Theophilus, W0NRW thanked everybody for the rain/ snow reports. The ARRL-NWS Skywarn Recognition event will be held on December 5-6. PUBLICITY: W0NRW had nothing to report. OLD BUSINESS: The 2015 meetings will continue to be held at Hero's/Gambino's. A motion was made by N0LOP and seconded by Steve Benke, KF0MS to meet ½ hour earlier. Eat at 6 PM with the Meeting at 7 PM. The motion was approved. NEW BUSINESS: A discussion to buy amateur radio books for Scouts was tabled. A motion to award plaques for a set number of years as a PARC member was made by Roy McCabe, W0UVQ and seconded by KF0MS. The motion was approved. It was referred to the Board of Directors to set guidelines in 2015. Voting for PARC Ham of the Year was conducted. Dan Steinhoff, W7UP moved that $500 be made available to buy prizes for the July Flea Market. KF0MS seconded the motion, which was approved. KF0MS made a motion that a PARC decal be given to each member when they pay their dues. The cost to the club will be $15 for 6 decals. KB0ZUN seconded the motion, which was approved. KF0MS will order 42 decals. Lance Hoffman, WN0L said it was time to renew our webhost and domain name agreement with GoDaddy.com. W7UP moved that we do that and KF0MS seconded. The motion was approved. DRAWING: The winner of the $10 Gambino's Gift Card was Dave Theophilus, W0NRW. The meeting was adjourned at 810 PM. First St Fremont, NE 68025 Martens Awarded 25 Year Certificate From NWS Congratulations to Larry and Sharon Martens on receiving a National Weather Service 25-year service certificate. Larry and Sharon are the official NWS cooperative weather observers for Fremont, Nebraska. Larry holds the amateur radio call of K0SW and Sharon holds the amateur radio of KB0TVB. Both are members of the Pioneer Amateur Radio Club (PARC) in Fremont, Nebraska. The news item below appeared in the January 10-12, 2015 edition of the Fremont (NE) Tribune. Dave Theophilus W0NRW PARC Publicity Cleo is K0JFO, although she is no longer active. Cleo is the wife of Tom Bracket, K0JFN. PARC now uses Tom s call as the club call sign. He passed away in 1996 at the age of 72.
