Meetings are held over a 2 course dinner for $33 including tea and coffee. Drinks at bar prices.. RI PRESIDENT GARY C.K. HUANG's MARCH MESSAGE Dear fellow Rotarians, In Rotary, we have the opportunity to build bonds of friendship with fellow Rotarians around the world. And once a year, at our international convention, we have the chance to get together with all of our Rotary friends, to share new ideas, plan new service, and just have fun. What better way to celebrate the end of the 2014-15 Rotary year, and Light Up Rotary with your friends, than to travel together to the 106th annual Rotary International Convention in São Paulo, Brazil? Whether you have never been to a convention before or are an experienced convention goer, this will be one you won't want to miss. Preregistration pricing ends on 31 March, so plan now for the biggest Rotary party of the year. Brazil reflects a diversity almost as great as Rotary's: Paulistanos, as the people of São Paulo are known, have created a lively culture with influences from all over the world. As you focus on the work of this Rotary year, I ask you not to lose sight of the importance of international friendship, and to register for the São Paulo convention now, at www.riconvention.org. Highlights of our Club Meeting, Tue 10th March 2015 Opening: The meeting was called to order by Sergeant Robert Leach followed by the Rotary Invocation and toasts to the Queen and Australia by Peter Cummins (right). Chairman for the evening was Trevor Donegan. President Trevor Donegan: 1. Trevor welcomed members and partners Jewel Matthews and Alison Tolstrup 2. Trevor announced that as next Tuesday 17th March is St Patricks Day and a Cluster Event for Hand Brake Turn presentation, it will be a PARTNERS NIGHT with a Touch of Green. 3. Members were informed about Nunawading s 50th Anniversary luncheon at 12 noon on 12 April at Karralyka Centre Ringwood. Contact Russel Warmington by email:- russel@pentad.com.au 4. Members were asked to help with assembling Show bags to distribute at the Ballarat District Conference to promote the next District Conference at Shepparton in March 2016. Sergeant Robert Leach: Sergeant Robert gave us a happy fines session but surprised many with his innovative way to extract gold, eg the Melbourne F1 event gave him an excuse to fine Peter Cummins for his interest in high powered cars, Vincent had to pay up for being late and Lu Cheng s new look did not go unnoticed either. The Joke of the week was very good and we are looking forward to an interesting time with Robert as he has been appointed the Committee Chairman for organising the District Conference for 2016 in Shepparton. Robert has provided us with a 2016 Conference Banner to promote the new Conference theme: with another record month. President Trevor is presented with an Op Shop cheque for Feb by Op Shop Manager Clem Joyce for $4,400, (over $2,000 more than Feb last year), which brings the year to date profit to $31,800, ($3,200 up on the same time last year). A great effort by all volunteers at the Op Shop. - FORCE OF THE FUTURE RC Box Hill Bulle n Vol 59 No 34 17-3-2015 2
