Watch the live broadcast with friends and neighbors. There will be Oscar related trivia questions with prizes, swag bags, raffles and last but not least snacks, beverages and the opportunity to spend the evening with folks with a common interest. Dust off your tux and cocktail dress or come in your jeans. We had a great time last year and hope that more movie buffs will join us for the 2013 celebration! Who votes? Why are some films in and some out? There is certain to be lots of information and lively discussion. Rob Edelman teaches film history courses at SUNY Albany. He is a film commentator on WAMC Northeast Public Radio, a Contributing Editor for Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide and several other Maltin publications, Audrey Kupferberg is the Director of the Film Studies Minor at SUNY Albany. She is also a film and video consultant, archivist and appraiser, and has been Director of the Yale Fim Study Center and Assistant Director of the National Center for Film and Video presentation at the American Film Institute. She is a film commentator on WAMC Northeast Public Radio. This year s Oscar programs are sponsored by the Anne Sherman Memorial Fund.

Or was she a woman who had suffered immeasurable loss with too little support? Recently brought to life on the big screen by Sally Field in Lincoln, there is a new interest in, and compassion for, the woman beloved by our 16th president but called one of the most detested women in American history by historians. Local author Patrician Nugent will present from her Ms. Magazine article about Todd Lincoln and lead a discussion on extreme grief masquerading as insanity.
