Sanford in central Arlington at 7:30 p.m. Members generally begin arriving at 7:00 pm. The executive board meeting is held prior to the general member meeting at starting at 6:30 pm. All members are welcome to attend the executive board meeting. On Frequency Cowtown Hamfest 2017 The 2017 Cowtown Hamfest was held Friday and Saturday January 20-21 at the Forest Hill Civic and Convention Center. The event is also host to the ARRL North Texas Section Convention, ongoing programs, license testing, and a number of informative exhibits, including the Salvation Army Emergency Service, AMSAT, as well as major dealers and manufacturers including Ham Radio Outlet and Kenwood. The indoor dealers area was packed with great prices and wall-to-wall hams looking for great deals. The space was perfect, with room for folks to sit and chat while enjoying a variety of reasonably priced concessions. To top it all off... great door prizes. And it looks like they're already planning a great hamfest for 2018. 73 Virginia NV5F K5SLD Repeaters 147.14+ PL 110.9 224.8 PL 110.9 444.2+ PL 100.0 Something for everyone at the Cowtown Hamfest

Announcements February Meeting Topic Homebrew Accessories for Field Day Finally, something that you can build from 'scratch' with simple tools and a few hours of spare time. Make field day more enjoyable for everyone with some coax and connectors. An easy and relatively cheap way to keep most of the nasty CW station out of the SSB station - and vice versa - and increase the club score and decrease the blood pressure! Warning sirens The City Of Arlington tests its outdoor warning sirens at 1:00 pm on the first Wednesday of each month, using volunteer observers, most of whom are hams reporting into a net held on the AARC s 2m repeater (147.140+, PL 110.9). Check-ins begin during the noon hour, and the test typically concludes before 1:30 pm. More observers are always needed, so please consider helping with this valuable effort if you can spare about an hour at lunchtime once a month. For more information, contact David Walker W5DJO ( cushmantx@sbcglobal.net ) or the Office Of Emergency Management (817-459-6939).
