Archibald and carried ayes 5, nays 0, the Board of Education of the Franklin Central School District does hereby approve Special Meeting Minutes May 17, 2016, as submitted. TREASURER S REPORT Mrs. Renwick reported the following to the Board: The cafeteria budget is up for board approval. Nothing has changed and there are no increases in prices. Fiscal year is coming to a close at the end of the month. Things are being finalized to get ready for next year. Purchase orders are ready to go for the new school year as well. Cronauer and carried ayes 5, nays 0, the Board of Education of the Franklin Central School District does hereby accept Treasurer s Report for May 2016, as submitted Resolution #15-200 Resolved, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, upon motion of Cronauer, seconded by Taggart and carried ayes 5, nays 0, the Board of Education of the Franklin Central School District does hereby accept Extra Curricular Report for May 2016, as submitted Resolution #15-201 Archibald and carried ayes 5, nays 0, the Board of Education of the Franklin Central School District does hereby accept Monthly Claim s Auditor s Report, as submitted Resolution #15-202 PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR Miss Bevilacqua presented the Board of Education with a petition concerning the reduction of teachers. President Worden thanked her for the information and stated that it was a tough decision for the board. Ms. Bevilacqua asked about the grant the school received for the robotics club. Ms. Renwick stated that the funds were donated from the Community Foundation and that the program is not affiliated with the school. Mr. Cox stated again that the funds came from the Community Foundation and that the program applied for another grant to expand the program.
Vice President Cronauer presented a plaque to President Worden for his retirement on behalf of the Board of Education. Cronauer stated that Tom Worden has been on the Franklin Board of Education for 16 years and we are grateful to have served with him. He has been a wonderful asset to the school and community. President Worden thanked the board and gave a speech about his time on the board. He stated that he is confident in leaving the school good hands. SUPERINTENDENT REPORT Mr. Daniels presented to the board the following: The survey has been completed on the Suozzo property. Mr. Daniels showed the board the map. The surveyor still needs to put in the final pegs marking the property. The school district actually owns more property than originally thought. The property that was being questioned does not belong to the district. Mr. Daniels introduced Mark VanKingsley to present his Video Game Club proposal to the board. NEW BUSINESS Mr. VanKinglsey spoke about how the Video Game Club worked and the times of when the club would meet. He does not want it to interfere with homework and other events so he will hold meetings in the early evening. By Consent agenda, upon motion by Swears, seconded by Taggart and carried ayes 5, nays 0, the Board of Education of the Franklin Central School District does hereby approve Resolution #15-203 through Resolution #15-205, as follows: Resolved, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, the Board of Education of the Franklin Central School District does hereby approve the Cafeteria Budget in the amount of $167,750 for 2016-2017 school year, as submitted - #15-203 Resolved, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, the Board of Education of the Franklin Central School District does hereby approve FCS Video Game Club with Mark VanKingsley as advisor with no compensation as submitted - Resolution #15-204 Resolved, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, the Board of Education of the Franklin Central School District does hereby authorize BOCES to appoint a committee to act on the district s behalf and for the district to abide by the committee recommendations and award bids, as follows: It is a plan of a number of public school districts in the Delaware-Chenango-Madison- Otsego BOCES Area in New York, to bid jointly equipment, supplies and contract items, and
The Central School named below is desirous of participating with other districts in the Delaware- Chenango-Madison-Otsego BOCES Area in the joint bidding of the items mentioned above as authorized by General Municipal Law, Section 119-o, and The Central School named below wishes to appoint a committee made up of participating schools to assume the responsibility for drafting of specifications, advertising for bids, accepting and opening bids, tabulating bids and providing the information to their Board of Education who will make the awards; therefore BE IT RESOLVED, below hereby appoints the Delaware-Chenango- Madison-Otsego BOCES to represent it in all matters relating above, and designates the Evening Sun Newspaper as the legal publication for all Cooperative Purchasing bid notifications and, below authorizes the above committee to represent it in all matters leading up to the entering into a contract for the purchase of the above mentioned items, and, below agrees to (1) abide by majority decisions of the participating districts on quality standards; (2) that it will award contracts based on information provided from the bid; (3) and that after the award of the bid it will conduct all negotiations directly with the successful bidder(s). President Worden stated that it has been an honor working with Mr. Daniels for the last 10 years. Mr. Daniels gave a speech after receiving his recognition and stated that he loves this place. Linda Worden spoke about Tom s dedication to the board and community.
