The McCreary County Board of Education met in Regular Session on September 10, 2015 at 6:30 PM at the Board of Education Central Office. Vice-Chairperson Gibson welcomed everyone then called the meeting to order and asked for a roll call. Present were: Deborah Gibson, Rhonda Armijo, Nelda Gilreath, Roxanne Shook and Superintendent Michael M. Cash. Absent from the meeting were: Chairman Brandon Kidd. Also present were: the media, school system staff and interested parties. APPROVE AGENDA - #9741 approve the agenda as presented. Members voted as follows: COMMUNICATIONS Girl Scouts At this time, Chairperson Gibson introduced Girl Scout Troop #1853. The troop leaders and girls shared with the Board some of the activities that they have been working on. They made 140 care bags for cancer patients at Corbin Hospital. They received a thank you note from one of the patients. In the bag was a bottle of water, hand sanitizer, pen, puzzle book, bible, and candy. They will be making 100 more care bags for Somerset Hospital s cancer patients. The Board recognized them for going the extra mile and helping others in need. Chairperson Gibson introduced Girl Scout Troop #7102. The leaders shared with the Board some of the activities their girls have been involved in: canned food drive that will feed 25 families for the Thanksgiving Holiday, they have done a Coat Drive-they have asked for gently used coats to distribute to needy families, and they are doing a Pop-Tab drive. The Board recognized them for going the extra mile and helping others in need. Carla Privett - Regarding Elementary Football Mrs. Privett wanted to share with the Board the needs that elementary football has and to ask for assistance from the Board. She shared with the Board that the elementary football team is districtwide and consists of Grades from 3 rd to 6 th. They do not play any home games. They travel to Whitley County to play. She said the Athletic Director does help them with travel. She said they do fundraisers each year and raise approximately $2000. The team is in need of new shoulder pads and helmets. They have other items that are needed, but these two are the most expensive and greater need. She obtained a quote from a Vendor for items the football team needs of $8000. Mrs. Privett is asking the Board to assist them with a donation toward purchasing these needed items. Superintendent

cash shared that he would get with the Finance Director, Mr. Bill Boyd, to see if the District has funding available and we ll add them to the Special Called Board meeting on Monday, September 14, 2015.
