Pledge and Invocation-The pledge of allegiance to the American Flag was led by DG Stephens and the Invocation was delivered by PDG Duane Goltz. SD 10 DG Stephens appointed PDG Jack Holzworth Tail Twister for this meeting; motion by PDG Klop, supported by PDG Whippen to donate $34.00 to Teaching Family Homes. SD 10 DG Stephens appointed Bill Munsell as Sergeant-at-Arms. Roll Call and Introductions- Roll call was taken per sign in sheet: SD 10 Cabinet members present: DG Jerry Stephens, 1st VDG Bill Rowe, 2 nd VDG Tom Lanaville Treasurer Bruce La Belle and Secretary Joe Maki, SD 10 Cabinet members excused: IPDG Ruth Snyder. SD 10 Zone Chairs and Committees excused: PDG Don Myers, PDG Bob St. Peter, Al Lemaire and Jim Whalen. Approval of Minutes-Motion to waive the reading of the minutes of the July, 2013 SD 10 Cabinet meeting and approve the minutes as submitted by PDG Whippen, supported by PDG Doubledee and unanimously approved. Approval of Treasurer s Financial Report-Motion to approve the Treasurer s Report as submitted by PDG Whippen, supported by Baczkowski and unanimously approved. District Governor s Report-DG Stephens gave a short oral report emphasizing: has been very busy with DG travel, has been working with Lions La Rue and Klaus RE: reforming the Marquette Township Lions Club, met with the Rock and Perkins Lions Clubs RE: forming a new Leo Club in the Mid Peninsula Public Schools and he held a short SD 10 Governor s Honorary Advisory Board meeting before this meeting. 1 st Vice District Governor s Report- An oral report was given and was supplemented by a written report and attached to these minutes. He has been very busy attending the USA/Canada Leadership Forum in Kansas City, he will be catching up with club visits and he has been given permission by DG Stephens to start making contacts to form his Cabinet next year. 2nd Vice District Governor s Report- An oral report was given; he enjoyed the USA/Canada Leadership Forum in Kansas City forum and was able to network with old acquaintances.

Region 1/Zone 2- Lion Paul Peterson-An oral report was given and was supplemented by a written report which is attached to these minutes. Region 2/Zone 1- Lion John Crady-An oral report was given and was supplemented by a written report which is attached to these minutes. Region 2/Zone 2- Lion Elmer Moisio-An oral report was given. Region 3/Zone 1- Lion Matt Doney-An oral report was given. Region 3/Zone 2- Lion Joe Pokladowski-No report. Region 4/Zone 1- Lion Bruce La Belle-An oral report was given, Lion La Belle also discussed an agenda that he uses when he makes his club visits. Region 4/Zone 2- Lion Jim Whalen-An oral report was given in Lion Whalen s absence by DG Stephens. Region 5/Zone 1- Lion Judy Goltz-An oral report was given. Region 5/Zone 2- Lion Andrea Osborn-An oral report was given.

Lions International is becoming much more member-driven and is offering much more computer-based officer training. Club Excellence Program ( CEP ) is a business-model that encourages Lions Clubs to conduct a community needs assessment that clubs could use to perform community service. Global Membership Team Coordinator SD 10 & Liaison (PDG Don Myers)-PDG Myers was excused/no report. Certified Guiding Lions (PDG Don Wojakowski)-DG Stephens gave an oral report in the absence of PDG Wojakowski. International Convention (PDG Duane Goltz)-An oral report was given. Lions Club International Foundation ( LCIF ) (Joe Baczkowski and PDG James Wash)-An oral report was given and was supplemented by a written report which is attached to these minutes. Michigan Eye Bank and Transplantation Center (Bill Munsell)-An oral report was given and was supplemented by a written report which is attached to these minutes. Northwood s Air Life Line (Karen Stroobants and PDG George Kelly)-An oral report was given and was supplemented by a written report which is attached to these minutes. Trading Pins (Al Le Maire)-Lion Lemaire was excused/no report. Ralph M. Sheehan Award (PDG s James Wash, Ruth Snyder and DG Jerry Stephens and 1 st VDG William Rowe)-No report.

Page 5 Continued Single District 10 Committees Reports: USA/Canada Leadership Forum (PDG James Wash)-An oral report was given by 1 st VDG Rowe and 2 nd VDG Lanaville. All State Band (PDG Jenny Ware)-An oral report was given. Bay Cliff Health Camp (Kris Rowe and 1 st VDG William Rowe)-An oral report was given and was supplemented by a written report which is attached to these minutes. Constitution and By-Laws (PDG s Bill Whippen and Dr. Sara Doubledee and Bernadette Haeusler and Dayna King)-An oral report was given. PDG Whippen discussed the generic constitution and by-laws; he stressed that every SD 10 Cabinet member become familiar with them and not to rely as much on the Committee to be the only steward of the documents. Convention SD-10 (Paul Peterson and Lois Berg)-A short oral report was given. The Cabinet Secretary will forward rooming and other arrangements when they are provided by the Committee. Cultural & Community Activities (Stan Kennedy)-No report. Diabetes Awareness and Action (Willie La Marche, James Svinicki and Carolyn St. Juliana)-No report. Environmental (IDPG Ruth Snyder)-No report. Hearing Preservation, Awareness and Action (PDG Bob St. Peter and Tracy Movalson)-A written report was submitted. Information Technology (Bruce La Belle and Dayna King)-See New Business.

Leader Dogs (PDG Gary Klop)-An oral report was given and was supplemented by a written report which is attached to these minutes. 4 Liberty Day (Menzo & Sandy Caswell)-No report. Magazine/Newsletter SD 10 (Joseph Maki)-Next newsletter should be e-mailed next week. Michigan Lions Service Foundation (PDG Duane Goltz and 2 nd VDG Tom Lanaville)-An oral report was given. Mint Distributor (Mike Kobasic)-No report. Nominations & Elections (PDG Bill Whippen)-An oral report was given. PDG Whippen was not happy to see that SD 10 Cabinet Officers were doing doubleduty and that this affected the recruitment of future SD 10 Cabinet Officers. SD 10 Governor Stephens again stressed turn-over of Club Officers. Peace Poster (Joe Baczkowski and Heather Suggitt)-An oral report was given and was supplemented by a written report which is attached to these minutes. Project Kidsight (PDG Jenny Ware, Bob St. Peter, Duane Goltz and Chuck Nicklas and Don Connors)-An oral report was given. Public Relations and Lions Information (PDG Larry Klaus)-An oral report was given. Sight Conservation & Work With The Blind (Gary Garn)-No report.

Teaching Family Homes (Jim Whalen)-No report; however they were our host and thank us for our support. White Cane (Debbie Bengry)-No report. Youth Opportunities & Exchange (Judie Goltz)-An oral report was given. Youth Outreach/Leo Clubs (Gary Aderman and Judy Davis)-No report. Old Business: A. PDG Doubledee asked for discussion of DG, 1 st VDG and 2 nd VDG travel expenses. There was consensus that the budget is covering expenses. The DG also note that Lions International also paid for some of these expenses. New Business: a. Higgins Lake Donation-Motion by Munsell supported PDG D. Goltz to approve the donation as presented. Motion carried unanimously. b. Chippewa Lions Club-The DG will be making one final attempt to contact the club. If there is no response he will be asking to revoke this club s charter; the members in attendance were in complete support of this action. There was also some discussion of the overall health of the Germfask-Seney Lions Club. Motion by Nicklas supported by numerous in attendance at this meeting to support the DG s proposed action in this matter. Motion carried unanimously.

Page 8 Continued New Business: c. 2 nd International VP-DG Stephens discussed a letter received from Lions Club International Director Esther La Mothe RE: potential candidates for 2 nd VP. SD 10 is being asked to support more than one candidate which raises questions of Michigan s standing with Lions International. In light of upcoming visits by the candidates a motion was made by PDG Ware being supported by Munsell to table an endorsement at this time in this matter. Motion by La Belle supported by PDG J. Goltz to authorize expenses for several SD 10 Lions members to attend the meeting downstate to hear presentations from the candidates.

Page 9 Continued New Business: d. SD 10 Website- Lion King asked for a show of hands at the last Cabinet meeting who use the current website and the support was good. Second question what would you like changed and are we going to keep the website which would need to be updated if we are to continue? The problem is the developer of the website is no longer local and it is database-driven which makes it difficult to support. Lions International of course has a very good website. The costs to setup a new website could be prohibitive. The DG pointed out that the Cabinet Officers can use the Lions International website to gain data, etc., that is NOT available to SD 10 Lions. It is also a source of SD 10 Archives. Please go home and study the current website so that a decision can be made at the next Cabinet meeting. DG Stephens asked also that King and La Belle be able to provide more information in this matter. Motion was made by PDG Nicklas being supported by PDG Klaus to table to the next SD 10 Cabinet meeting. Motion carried unanimously. e. Project Kidsight/LOMSF-PDG Ware discussed a recent controversial matter with the screening device that had political overtones. Motion by PDG Klaus being supported by PDG Ware to re-affirm the Lions International position to not get involved in religious or political affairs. Motion carried unanimously. f. DG Stephens discussed the recent Wooden Nickel program. Perhaps as many as 20,000 hits to date!!! He also discussed the Michigan Safari Pin ; you get a new pin for sponsoring a new Lion from the DG. g. PDG Lundmark would like to get notice of SD 10 Cabinet meetings and feels that other PDG s also be kept in the loop.

Approval of Bills: Motion was made by PDG J. Goltz, supported by Baczkowski to pay bills as submitted and unanimously carried.
