OFFICE COMPOUND,SHIMOGA RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT, 2005 INFORMATION UNDER CLAUSE 4(1)(b) Sl.No. (i) Manuals and information to the Manuals The particulars of its organization, function and duties:- The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Shimoga, of Karnataka Consumer Disputes Redressal State Commission and District Forum Services is functioning under chapter III of the Consumer Protection Act, The main object and duty of the Consumer Forum is to redress the consumer grievances within stipulated period and without following any lengthy procedure. (ii) The Powers and duties of its officers and employees: The powers and duties of the President, Members, Officers and employees of the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Shimoga, as per the Act and work distribution order issued by the State Commission are as follows:- Sl. Administrative Officer is to carry out the direction issued by the President as well as the District Forum Bench. 04 Sheristedar One Post Sheristedar is nothing but Manager of the office. The Sheristedar shall discharge The work of over all Supervision accounts, filing, disposal, preparing statements, paybills and other work entrusted by the President of the District forum and Asst. Registrar of the District Forum. 05 First Division One Post The First Division Assistant Assistant shall discharge the duties of The Bench clerk, Pending

3 3 Clerk and any other work Entrusted by the District Forum. 06 Second Division One Post The Second Division Asst. Assistant shall discharge the duties of Inward and outward, indexing of disposed files, record keeper, librarian and any other work entrusted by the President of the District Forum. 07 Stenographers Two Posts The Stenographers shall discharge the duties of taking dictation of judgments at court hall and chambers of the President and Members of the District Forum. Transcription work through computer, recording deposition at court hall through computer and any other work entrusted by the President, Members, Asst. Registrar cum Assistant Administrative Officer. 08 Peon Three Post One Peon is attached to the President of the District Forum and court hall. One Peon is attached to the Office of the District Forum. One Peon is to do the work of night watchman or any other work entrusted by the President of the District Forum. (iii) The procedure followed in the decision making process, including channels of supervision and accountability:- The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Shimoga, of Karnataka Consumer Disputes Redressal State Commission and District Forum Services is constituted under the (Central Act No.68 of 1986) Consumer Protection Act, 1986 to redress the grievances

4 4 of the consumers and following the procedure laid down in the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 under section 11,12,13,14,15,17,18 and 22 D and the regulations framed by the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission under section 30 A of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986, vide its notification No. 105/NCDRC/2005 dated (iv) The norms set by it for the discharge of its functions:- The norms for discharge of the functions of the District Forum are available in the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 and Consumer Protection Regulations 2005 and Karnataka Consumer Protection Rules (v) The rules, regulations, instructions, manuals and records held by it or under its control or used by its employees for discharging its functions:- The Consumer Protection Act 1986 The Karnataka Consumer Protection Rules 1988 The Consumer Protection Regulations 2005 and other rules for establishment of consumer forum (vi) A statement of categories of documents that are held by it or under its control:- Complaint Register, Execution Application Register, Miscellaneous Petition Register, Record Room Register, Files pertaining to complaints, execution applications, miscellaneous petitions, monthly disposal register and other registers of administration and establishment section such as general receipt register, dispatch register, stamp register, local delivery book, attendance register, register of casual leave, register of furniture and other articles, library register, personal register and cash book. (vii) The particulars of any arrangement that exists for consultation with or representation by, the members of the public in relation to the formulation of its policy or administration thereof:- No public contact with the services of District Forum which is constituted under the provisions of Consumer Protection Act, Only the consumers or the aggrieved parties shall approach these services. (viii) A statement of boards, councils, committees and other bodies consisting of two or more person constituted as its part or for the purpose of its advise and as to whether meetings of those boards, councils, committees and other bodies are open to the public or the minutes of such meetings are accessible for public:- No boards, councils, committees and other bodies are functioning under the services of District Forum. (xiii) Particulars of recipients of concessions, permits or authorizations granted by it:- Nil (xiv) Details in respect of the information available to or held by it, reduced in an electronic form:- Information regarding complaints, execution petitions etc. filed in this Forum, is available in the website developed, maintained and updated by the NIC at (xv) The particulars of facilities available to citizens for obtaining information, including the working hours of a library or reading room if maintained for public use:- The District Forum is having library facility in respect to the Consumer Protection Act, The parties concerned to the cases and the public can make use of the library available in the District Forum during the working hours between AM to 1.30 PM and 2.15 PM to 5.15 PM.
